Does anyone else think that the EEE PC is overrated? Sure it may be small but the performance just isn't there, so much more could have been done.

What are you talking about. You can run Vista on the MSI Wind ($500) and the Toshiba on the list has 4 gigs of RAM and is $900 and it will run Vista extremely well. In fact except for netbooks, most laptops can run Vista.

I'm talking about the mac, the other, yeah, it wouldn't be the best setup but it'd certainly work.

I've always thought the EEEs were really expensive for the performance they give.

So are macs. Sure they look cool(until they start to discolor) but the hardware is 500 dollars more expensive than other PCs with similar hardware. and I don't know why you would purchase one for the OS. If you want compatibility go with windows if you want *nix you should probably use a free version.

Dell XPS starts at $999. Macs are on the list that start over a $1000 so the XPS is worth mentioning.

7" aint big. Maybe in Japan.

I just don't see the need for a 7" toy with a 2gig hard drive, a non-standard OS, no 3G/HSDPA and a 1.5 hr battery life. I just don't understand why anyone would buy one. What would you use it for?

On ebay, you can usually find some petty good deals for notebooks that new cost around 1200$. I personally found that the Asus G1S is a pretty good deal if you can find it for 900$ or less.
