Hi all,
For those who maybe interested, I recently decided to purchase a new computer with Windows 11 installed on it, as my previous ones were over 11 years old and showing definite signs of slowing down.
Obviously, one of the first things I wanted to verify is whether Civilization II MGE and ToT/ToTPP would work on it.
For my part, I didn't bother to reinstall it from my Civilization Chronicles CD (as I seem to have misplaced it) but simply copied the folder from my previous computer (which was set up with ToTPP 0.184 and FoxAhead's latest CIV2UIA ) and pasted it into the root drive of my new computer: C:\Sid Meier's Civilization Chronicles TOTPP 0184.
In this manner, it's possible to run both MGE and TOT without a CD. Just make sure you have the latest TOTPP and CIV2UIA versions installed, which you can grab here:
FoxAhead Civ2UIA: download the following zip ''Civ2UIA.v1.21.5.2785.zip'' from his gitHub page
here. You can also check out his ''Civilization II MGE User Interface Additions (CIV2UIA)'' development thread
here.
ToTPP version: ''Release 0.18.4'' from his CivFanatics page here.
I did some basic testing and found that both MGE and ToT/ToTPP are working smoothly with no crashes.
Of course, I can only confirm that this is working on my set up but I hope this was useful for anyone who might be planning on upgrading to Windows 11.
