So I was wondering what anyone thought about the idea of a "Tower Defense" map for Civ 5
You would have create a channel by using mountains and the 'towers'(aka the units you build/buy) have the ability to sit on mountains (remove the dmg effect) and give varying ranges to different 'tower' types, like an infantry would have a higher atk speed(meaning it gets to fire twice per turn or something, (I haven't worked out details yet, this is just a rough idea) while artillery would fire less but do more dmg(with xp and upgrades giving them ability to shoot more)
you would restrict the tech grid and have the 1, 2, .... however many cities necessary for the map layout preset with resources and w/e else needed and just have access granted to them as the tech tree is climbed
I was thinking that for the tech tree, you could make it so that you can purchase great scientists as a way to jump up the tech tree faster than the rate that would be preset via the city setups
and obviously it would require every unit available to the player would have to be given ranged attack
the computer would 'spawn' the mobs by having it set up so that they can only build certain units at certain rates(by having the city preset with terrain and therefore production capacity would be set as well as restrict the computer to only certain tech and certain things to build from those techs
the most important part to this equation and the mobs movement, i am not sure if you can set a computer city to automatically tell units to move somewhere when they are created or not (is that possible?)
so thats my idea and just wanted some feedback if anyone thinks this is even a viable mod
also if someone else already came up with this idea, plz let me know!
