It is now 50 BC, and we can trade Horseback Riding and Priesthood to the Romans, in exchange for getting Mathematics. I think this is a reasonable trade. It's not equal in beakers, but it is the smallest amount in Rome's favor which is possible. With this trade, forest chops will be worth their full value, and we can research Construction or Currency.

There aren't any interesting resource trades, but the trading screen reveals we're in a temporary position of being the only ones with iron.

You sure about that last point about Iron...?

Cause I'm pretty sure I saw in an earlier save that there was a tile next to Near the northern most German city with a high Hammer production that I could only explain as Iron...

Evidence discovered that Germany has Iron - Found a mine on a plains tile which was producing 5 hammers for Germany. No visible resource, though we can't see Iron yet.

Don't have access to the save right now to check myself, though.

We're not the only one with iron.

Maybe iron didn't show as available to trade to us because no connection -- don't know, just looked very quickly and then went to work. :p

The tech trade is the important part so far anyway.

Does Rome has horses? If so, then trading it might not be such a good idea. We all know Caesar likes to attack people.

Germany and Rome have horses and lack copper.

France has copper and lacks horses.

No iron is showing as being tradeable, meaning at a minimum it's not connected to anyone's capitol.
