Possible trades on 1030AD:

India:
silks <-> ivory, 100 gold

metallurgy <-> ivory, 342 gold

democracy <-> ivory, 173 gold

CONTACT WITH ENGLISH <-> Ivory
11gpt + 87 gold + WM

Iroquois:
Contact with English <-> 123 gold

Rome:
democracy <-> horses, saltpeter, 2 lururies, 31 gold

Aztec:
democracy <-> Iron (bad), 2 luxuries
1gpt + 37

NB. Aztecs already have unconnected iron within their borders. trading them resources could also pre-emt another attack.

Suggested:
1. Get WM from India(equiv. 74 gold) & Iroquois(equiv. 72 gold) since they know English.
2. Further trades may be possible with English upon contact. It would be great if contact could be established during pre-turn for further discussion of English trades during turn chat.

Also, we are the only civ to have economics. Trading it away now would allow competition for Smiths'

You need to put down who we can trade those to.(It would help alot)

Do we have enough luxuries to do both these trades?

The Aztec deal isn't so bad. They have iron and will most likely reconnect it anyway.

We need those Indian silks, too. If we do both these trades we need only come up with 63 gold from the treasury.

Don't we need silks for WLTKD? The 5th luxury is critical as it produces 3:) if the city has marketplace.

Metallurgy is too expensive. Ivory+342 gold is >600 gold. We cannot accept such an extortion.

Good idea to have the maps.:cool:

Depending on how much money the Military Dept. Gets I'd be willing to use the Military funds to get Metallurgy, I feel Cavalry is important.

Also, I feel that we shouldn't pay for the English contact, unless it becomes REALLY cheap. We'll discover them eventually ourselves and their contact isn't very important right now.

I don't like the idea of trading the Aztecs much of anything. The democracy tech is not worth iron and two luxuries unless it is a trade with one of our friends. This is an uneven trade that benefits our enemy when we are supposed to be making sure we get the upper hand on any deal with a civ like that. It will probably take the AI a while to connect the iron anyway, and we should keep the Aztecs without for as long as possible.

I would say no to the India-Silk deal.
We rush a temple in Tlaxcala and we'll get Gems in a couple of turns.

I would go for a map rather than communication with the English. We'll contact them ourselves with Caravels.

Metallurgy is important and we should trade for it with India as they are in 3rd or 4th place for power.

Falcon:I'd be willing to use the Military funds to get Metallurgy

The Trade Department appreciates the help from the Military Department here! :goodjob:

Daaraa: I would go for a map rather than communication with the English. We'll contact them ourselves with Caravels.

Our caravels would need at least 10 turns to reach them since they are probably near to Iroquois & Indian territory. This means we could lose 10 turns of trade with England which could be of higher opportunity cost than 123 gold.

Isn't it possible that civs who don't have contact with the English might still have England on their maps? They could have brought maps from those who already have contact with the English.

Possibly, though there's no way to tell in advance who might have this info. India or Iroquois would have England's position for sure.

Ah, I had missed out Greece. But we can get the new WM with the gem trades proposed in the 1130AD thread.
