Tribe names

I ran some tests since I have two Dos versions, 474.04 and 474.01. Did it three times on both, selected earth, chieftain, 7 civs, and hit escape while Americans were highlighted, and on .04, I got Americans, Germans, and Greeks, in that order. In .01, I got Romans, Babylonians, and Egyptians, in that order, so it seems to be random no matter what the version. So, in answer to your question, I don't think you're doing anything wrong, it's just random.

I'll re-start until I get the Civ I want though, because I'm kind of anal like that. I like to make up all kinds of weird nations, like Bill Gates, leader on the Windows, capital being WinXP, or perhaps i'll try being Martin, Prince of Redwall, with my capital Redwall Abbey. It's fun.

I know this is incredibly childish, but this week I’m playing as the “Farty olds”.

The game’s progressing quite well so far. Farty old wise men are coming up with new technologies quite regularly. My capital (Methane City) is growing steadily, as are the neighbouring citadels of Catfartulum and Gas Vegas.

Carthage, needless to say, has been renamed with an F.

The game’s still in progress; any suggestions for city names would be most welcome!

I quite often play as the Mongols - yes, very boring I know. But I do try to come up with a new "Khan" to be the ruler. Some of the better ones are:
Squash players Jansher Khan and Jahangir Khan.
Boxer Amir Khan.
David Gemmell character Tanaka Khan.
And Chaka Khan of course.
