yes but drafting is faster, for a smaller pop number (up to riflemen):
plus part :
- your draftees are available immediately when you press the button = they can move/attack in the same turn you decide to get one
- they cost only one pop up to riflemen
minus part :
- you can only draft the garrison units, so it's pointless before riflemen (who wants an army of musketmen? i tried, it's going nowhere)
- the draftees have only half the xps, so with barracks and theocracy, you only get level 2 units
So i often use drafting for riflemen.
To be true, i don't see the point of drafting lesser troops which couldn't hurt an enemy, and better troops cost more (drafting inf costs 2 pop, if i remember well, better to build/whip them).
But playing the english (vanilla) and drafting redcoats is really powerful!
