In the world of tomorrow!!
Coming to a PC near you in May.

Expansion pack boasts:
• New campaign featuring 10 missions on a separate map with 10 islands also available in sandbox mode

• 6 new buildings (including Garbage Dump, Marina, Small Garage, Children's Playground etc) and a new buildings category for current and new decorations with individual icons mode

• 10 new Megalomania edicts - demonstrate your absolute power by ordering the construction of a huge golden statue of Tropico's top export, declaring an annual festival dedicated to yourself or even print your own money!

• 6 Landmarks – Build huge decorations and buildings which dominate the island landscape and make each island unique.

• New faction - The new Loyalist faction are your die hard supporters and want no elections (since you're obviously the best candidate) and want a statue of you on every corner!

• Faction Disasters - Low standing with any island faction will trigger new disasters if not addressed

• New Intro and Win/Lose Cutscenes

• 4 Additional Avatar Costumes – 2 for male and 2 for female avatars

• Beautification upgrades for the presidential palace including rooftop pool, extra towers, flags, banners and a larger balcony (which will increase the effects of balcony speeches)

• More icons displaying the status of buildings and displaying input/output storage numbers for selected buildings

• Prevalent faction - In every sandbox game one faction is chosen as "prevalent" on the island. Members of this faction will be especially numerous throughout the entire game and their satisfaction will be more important than usual

• More Radio Announcements to guide you through Tropico's daily life

• Gravel roads - Second type of road for rural areas with decreased travel speed

I like the new buildings! I always found pollution to be a problem that I could only slightly mitigate with edicts and decrees.

Looks good, the whole loyalists faction sounds a bit silly though

Wouldn't this make the game even easier? Or dunno, the whole faction system is completely broken in Tropico 3

I hate how I buy games when they're on special and I don't even have time to play them before a frickin' expansion is announced. Can we get a 1-1,5 year lag between a game and the announcement of its first expansion please? Holding back ideas for expansion packs is getting more and more blatant and dumb.

Loyalist faction sounds a bit too easy, same with the 'prevelant faction' as GVBN mentioned.

I'd prefer it if they improved the military aspect of the game, I hate my whole army essentially gathering in one spot and then roaming while my dictator runs like hell to not get caught by the rebels

give us some bloody tanks!

I wholeheartedly agree! I'd like to be able to at least have the option of gathering troops together and sending them all at once and maybe have the option of using one of the BTR's in the third person similar to Toy Soldiers on Xbox Arcade where you can let the AI defend your toy box or actually control a machine gun or an artillery piece or a tank if you were in trouble.

Yeah agreed. I loved Tropico 3, but its major problem was that it was nice and challenging at the start of a level, but once you got things going a bit and set up some basic infrastructure, you were pretty much completely safe from political upheaval. All the potentially fun stuff like secret police and assassinations and bribery and martial law and stuff didn't really get a look-in because everyone already loved you so much by the time you got them.
I'd rather see some sort of new mechanic to keep the instability up throughout the whole game. I want a reason to really plumb the depths of sleazy megalomania!

Small Garage is definitely very welcome though!

EDIT: From the comments to the article the OP linked:
It is now possible to have a hitman kill the radio announcer.
:D
