Trying Civ4 for first time, what will Civ6 be?

In Vanilla, in Naval Warfare you couldn't stack Embarked/Work Baots with other Ships. In God and Kigns, they're adding the ability, so Naval zones will act very much like Land zones.

That sounds awesome.

One thing I hope to see in Civ 6 that I don't expect in a Civ 5 expansion is a true spherical map (mostly hexes with a few pentagons or triangles near the poles), with full zoom out and pretty stars in the background. It would be a huge undertaking but the programmers and our PCs should be ready for it after Civ 5's lifecycle has past.

Another, more minor thing would be to have a day\night cycle, that just moves forward in real time (not affecting or affected by the turn cycle). Again, big undertaking and requires powerful PCs.

Useless, and seriously uncessesary, I would much prefer Seasons, and even then, that's useless because the game runs in YEARS and not in DAYS or MONTHS.

Nights would look great, as more and more lights appear as one progresses through eras and grows their cities (at first there would just be a lot of "moonlight" for player's vision). Also, it's annoying and boring to always see the sunlight reflecting off the ocean at the same angle. Day\Night cycle for Civ 6 please :king:

Anything else I can think of (besides spherical map) can be done in Civ 5 through mods or expansion.

Sure, might look good.. but is it necessary? No. in fact, darkness is going to make everything difficult to see, especially if the sun on the outside is bright. This is a strategy game that happens in a year-cycle.

Given the slow speed of Civ V, I'd suggest that PCs might not be ready for it as it is. I don't see a value to a spherical map - the flat world view is much more useful. Besides the bizarre shape of the polar regions is iconic and has been part of Civ maps since day 1.

Well I never ranted that Civ5 was inferior to Civ4. I happened to play both and made an intelligent observation. There are some things in Civ5 that I liked over Civ4, but come on.

If you want this, why not try out Victoria 2?

I've played alot more civ 4, than civ 5 and is much better at civ 4.
The main reason why I prefer civ 4 is that I think it's more logical and easier to grasp why things happen. Some examples:

Diplomacy, you see what all the other civs thinks about each other and why they do it in civ 4.
But in Civ 5 it's a mystery to me.

If you found another city in civ 4, your maintaince cost goes up for every city and you will have to pay for that city too. So it's easy to calculate if it's worth to build a settler to lets say build a seventh city early, before you get better tech.

But in civ 5 you have global happyness and I think it's hard to calculate how much my cities will grow, before they gets unhappy and how many cities I should build.

I think combat in civ 4 is easier to grasp than in civ 5. You just hold over and see the winning chance. But I think defense is abit too strong in civ 5 thanks to 1upt which means you can only attack a city with a certain number of units.
In civ 4, you do easily learn that either you go mounted warfare with Horsearchers or Cuirassiers or you go with siegeweapons. And it's easy to calculate how many units you need to take a city.

I could give alot more examples. But for me it's important in a strategygame to easily judge what outcome my decisions do, but unfortunatly it's not in Civ 5.

That's the most important for me in Civ 6, that it will be easy to judge what outcomes your actions will get.

CIV 6 should be Alpha Centauri II.

Add a second expansion for CIV 5 and just keep selling it for years and years.
