So in my current "pirates" game I've done almost everything I need to do for a perfect gamescore. I've nabbed Montalban, most of the named pirates, and am high ranking (Baron or better) with every nation. However, I've only found two of my family members. I also have plenty of gold to keep a crew of 200+ sailing without mutiny ad infinitum (IIRC I have over 300K gold.)

But, I can't find my aunt. It says that I have to search "North of Vera Cruz", and I sailed all the way out there, but I couldn't find her even though I was able to find most of the landmarks on my land (I am on rogue difficulty.)

So, two questions:

1. "North of Vera Cruz" can be nearly infinite, going all the way up to Texas and Louisiana if you sail far enough. Can it ever be super-far north like that? Or is it going to be somewhere close to Vera Cruz? (On Rogue.)

2. Is it actually possible to find family members after Montalban? Or does finding Montalban lose you the opportunity to save family members?

Thanks in advance for help. I don't know how to post save files.

Yes, as best I can remember, you can find family members any time.

North of Vera Cruz does not normally mean all the way to Louisiana, though I've been to Texas.

Do you have the whole "treasure" map of the lost aunt, or not?

Spoiler :
The center of the map, the red X ( or confinement cabin ) and the coastal landmark are always on the same axis. So if you can find the coastal landmark, and follow your bearings well enough, you should be able to find what you are looking for.

Sorry, I didn't see this sooner, I was on vacation.

Yes, I have the entire map. If I recall correctly there was no coastal landmark, although I could be wrong about that (I haven't looked at this file since I posted.) also, is there any way I can post my save file on the forum? How?

Well, I can't find the save files on my own computer.... maybe they are mixed in with one of my other Sid save games folders...

If I figure it out, I'll tell you. I asked elsewhere, but no response yet. It's normally done with the manage attachments, under additional options, if you scroll down below the submit button on this page.

If there's really no landmark, there may not be any captive hut, either. The game is not without it's glitches now and then.

If there is no captive hut, is there any way to win (without starting over?)

Well, it's probably there....

In my original game I searched and searched for my Uncle, and my map kept leading me to a single skeleton hanging from a tree, and I concluded I was too slow. Later, while on the trail of a treasure, I noticed this odd hut and went to investigate. As it turned out, my uncle was in it, and there was a cliff right against the back of the hut. On top of the cliff was a dead tree with a skeleton hanging from it...

Sometimes maps for treasures/lost cities/ Montalban's hideout/ a lost relative can overlap, and confuse you. If there are too many landmarks, suspect overlap.

But even if the hut isn't there, you probably don't have to start from the beginning.

The game has various saves. There are 15 save slots plus the last battle and arrival in port.
Perhaps you can find an earlier save without the aunt quest and try loading that? Then by visiting the Abbey or getting a good dance with a beautiful daughter, you can trigger the lost relative quest. Or you can keep looking until the mysterious stranger offers you the map piece.

I got some advice.

The save game files are in Libraries/Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Pirates!

Unfortunately, CFC doesn't support Pirates! files. If you could put it on Rapid Share or some such file sharing place and post a link, I'd be glad to spend some time on it.

Can you explain how I could do that?
