Then please look at the civilopedia, are there also 2 entries for the units, or do they only appear twice in the menu?
If there are 2: Does any of the entries say "replaces unit [WhateverItshouldReplace]"?

No, it's only in the menu. It says replaces Cavalry and Worker, which is how I want it

The hover text is for both the same?
Do the unit appear for other civilizations in the building menu?

I think having one unit replace two might be why you get it twice. The game actually works with unitclasses and buildingclasses, not units and buildings - it just subs in the appropriate unit/building as appropriate.

No, it's not one unit replacing two, it's 2 units replacing two units. The hover text is the same for the double icon of that unit. I haven't tested if they appear in other civs, but I doubt it because the others shouldn't even have access to them
