Playing faster these days (but still nowhere near TMIT :p) so I need more games to keep improving! Going to throw up 2 starts (two threads) tonight and play a good chunk of each tomorrow night. I'd be very happy to have advice and shadow games to compare with if anyone feels up to it :) Otherwise, I'll just post what I do!

Random leader

=============

First up I pull Khan, but not Genghis ;)

Here's the start:
Spoiler :

Save is attached.

Start looks decent, but I think I'd move the scout 2NW to the hill and then settle in place or take a walk to the hill 1S/1SE of the settler to see what we can see.

Tech path, definitely AH first.

Tundra above us, so we're in the northern end of whatever landmass we're on.

I would move the scout to the corn, to see what sort of land you have there. If grassland it may be worth moving the settler to grab it. Riverside cap is powerful come late game.

Well, could move the scout that way, but why not to a hill? Better visibility.

Better visibility in a direction that's not profitable to move to. Better off seeing what's by the river.

I meant the hill directly east, not the one I initially mentioned the scout heading for ;)

1625 AD domination.

Spoiler :
The only unit truly used offensively? Guess.

-1 PRO civ. Keshiks are prat class. I insist this is the case. Observe this game as an argument.

That's I get IW. Tag teaming HRE with shaka and fleecing it.

Toku next

Peace for masonry and sailing from him.

This time he gives me math for peace.

Zulu kills HRE

I go for arabia

DOH

Toku declares on me too. I get out of war with sal, lose some of toku's cities to zulu, then capture them back, take peace, and

Sal jumps in!

Only time I'll probably ever win this, and by total accident.

I wasn't going to win lib. All I need are keshiks anyway.

Sal has maces, pikes, longbows...oh yeah, and no hope

Amazing TMIT!!

Spoiler :
How do you manage to attack with 8 Keshiks successfully in 445BC against a Pro civ on Monarch?!? Seems like a really late attack with very few units that wouldn't work. How do you promote Keshiks cuz I haven't had nearly as much success with them.

Spoiler :
223 Keshiks built, I LOVE it! :goodjob:

Dankok-It's all about FLANKING baby! That's how you want to promote those suckers!

Spoiler :
I got lucky and didn't see any metal out of him. I usually use some combination of flanking (to attain 1st strike immunity and have a chance to survive at low odds) and just plain combat (as they're quite stout with 7.2 str and a FS of their own then).

Of course, I left the first city I captured garrisoned with 0 units and had reinforcements churning for pretty much the whole game.

Spoiler :
Think I'm in an ok position here. Still plenty of room to build cities, not that I need more of them. Shortage of workers, which is my own fault.

Settled here:
t1-city.jpg

Went along, here's where I'm at. Crashed economy, building Gers to create a Keshik horde. I have something of an army near Charlemagne, down near the copper which I settled a city I probably didn't need to get, but it was the only metal in sight.

Question:

Spoiler :
Was this really random? Everyone protective so far except for Shaka, who's not exactly a great rush candidate for keshiks. I'm tired of Gilgamesh - not sure if I can stomach this game, not with the DeGaulle game out there too.

Spoiler :
Yeah, it was indeed. Sucks eh?

Trynth:

Spoiler :

Unbelievable to roll that many protectives on random. I played for awhile, but my keshiks petered out after awhile. I was ahead in land and tech, and had plenty of flanking keshiks to survive any invasion, but I just couldn't bring myself to play this one out with all those protective civs. I think I'll go to the degaulle game tomorrow. Hopefully not as many protective, although that seems like a wonderspam type of game.
