TSG38 After Action Report

Domination Victory - 1915

Grabbed Great Lighthouse and Colossus, which gave me plenty of early cash. Headed towards Sams and Frigates. Upgraded 3 triremes to frigates, and took them south to kill Germany.

2 turns short of getting Machu Piccu. That would have meant huge cash.

Finished them off and made Berlin into a Wonder factory. Swung around and took Paris fairly quickly.

Floated the fleet / army to Mecca and conquer in fairly easily. Only 3 samuri's remain at the moment

Upgraded the samuri's to riflemen. Floated the fleet over to Egypt with a couple more rifles joinging up, and took one extra city and thebes.

Waited a few turns until Infantry became available. Upgraded 4 rifles to infantry and began floating infantry across from the other side.

Multi-pronged attack by land and sea on China. Liberated Helenski, took a coastal city, razed a few minor cities and moved in on Bejing. Infantry/rifles were strong enough that cho-ku-nu were not an issue.

Upgraded all remaining rifles to infantry, which I had bulbed.

Regrouped and floated to the Mongols capital. Took one extra city on the pennisula, then took down the capitol. I began to realize how handy frigate range is.

My fleet / army continues to swell with each conquest. Floated to Russia, took St. Petersburg, and then ground assualted Moscow.

Waiting a few turns for combustion, so I can get destroyers before assaulting Greece, as they are actually ahead of me in tech.

I spend my fortunes upgrading most of the fleet to destroyers. A couple turns to get into position, and then I finished off Athens for the win.

I had lots of money during this game, as I settled my first two great merchants near the capitol. That combined with colossus, and the maritime opener that gives extra cash in the capitol, meant I was rolling in money.

Happiness was a problem through out. After the conquests began, it was rare to be above 0.

Left game incomplete as on holiday last week. Didn't quite break 250 turns as hoped due to some rustiness on my return!

Invisible units occasionally happened to me too, but save-restart computer (the game alone might have been enough)-load the save worked to make them right again

I found that by switching to strategic mode (i.e., only chess-board like screen) and switching back, all disappeared icon will be shown again. It seems that the calculation of which icon got "covered" by others are buggy.

Thanks! I'll try that. It's still annoying, but this work-around is simple enough to make it a minor issue.

Ended this in t108
teching: straight optics --> iron --> writing for gl -->samurais

gameplan: spam trimires early --> discover all world to get loads of gold and map knowledge-->spam settler for possible iron and forward spots --> buy warris --> settle iron -->upgrade --> sail round world killign everything

got a early cult ruin which helped settlign fuji fast
cap was on grow fast and then settler spam

non of opponent cap was >strength12 so Samurais werent really needed - but hitting caps with 10 dmg was fun

problems: few iron - had to disband some swords to be able to upgrade/buy samurais somewhere else

things I could have done better:
get into medi age faster to get this +1 sail for units sp faster and some minor not goig the fastest way possible to next ai things
