Hi guys, i know i'm the new guy, but i thought i'd ring in here...
First off, i agree with magnus, they're trying to catch us with our pants down. they are gonna attack as soon as their penalty is up, just like we plan to. THEY KNOW we're going to attack, its obvious in their moves and placements. And right now, i don't know if we could fend them off in a defensive campaign.
Ok, so here's how i fight. To borrow a world war II term, i like to blitzkreig. Meaning, i like to go in hard and fast with an overwhelming force and acheive local superiority within 1-2 turns. so keep that in mind throughout the rest of my post.
Anyways, i see Fanatica focusing on Agriculture and Infastructure at the moment... All fine, but, if we're seriously planning a total invasion of another nation, we need to be devoated to military spending. I would suggest switching all cities producing infastructure items (buildings, workers) to horseman (available next turn), except for costal cities, which i'd suggest work on galleys.
Secondly, i'd suggest withdrawing from the barbarian situation. Why bother them??? Lets think.. With them there, we have a buffer from incoming Brasilian forces, if we leur them out and take them out, were wasting a commodety that at best could attack our enemy for us!
Those galleys.... those scare me. I don't think they're carrying gems and furs. They're strategically placed, one near the gateway to our homeland, the other next to a city supplying horses. they need an escort, so we can at least attempt to sink them be4 they unload immortals right on our back door.
And the master plan. Now when i drew this up, i assumed my attack strategy, and that we would want to keep the cities we captured. Also a larger treasury wouldn't hurt.
Now, basically the strategy is composed of a sea-based attack from 3 locations, west, east, and north. A southernly land based attack is predictable and would almost certainly meet with resounding defeat, esp considering that pancake stack of immortals on the mountain.
This plan would require A LOT of units, esp galleys and horseman, but i think it almost garuntees a 75%+ success rate. The key is swift action for the first phase, the capture of Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, and Fortaleza. Landing our troops on their shores will no doubt trigger alarms, but if we try to hold our galleys out of Fog of war range until the big move, we might have surprise on our side, and at least minimize the attacks faced on the turn b/w deployment and attack. Once deployed, troops would attack the cities simultaneously, assuming each city has less than 4 defenders, they should fall within our turn.
Then we DIG IN. fortify the cities, and rush production of military units there. then sweep out in the pattern layed out in the image above, using at first 3 seperate armies to attack cities and fortify in the same manor as the first wave. If we dig ourselves in hard, and rush enough units to defend the cities we capture, we should be ok. We can then move wave by wave thru the remaining cities, bringing in reinforcements from the southernly land bridge.
Now this of course assumes we want those cities... and i don't see why we shouldn't. at the very least we'll need a defensable locations to fend off counterattack. And plus with victory would come the DOUBLING of our nation in size, poplulation, production base, etc... But i suppose the strategy could be adapted to a burn them to h*ll strategy if need be.
Anyways, thats just my 2 cents, tho i would stress for CERTAINTY that they are planning to attack us VERY SOON, as i beleive with almost equal certainty they know, or beleive we intend to attack them upon the end of their penance.
