Turn 200-209

Can't hold Polynesia so Its been abandoned except for a token force. Hopefully there will be roads to cut next turn. Artillery is delayed, I couldn't rush them yet so Glassport will have to hold out. With such a large stack so close (in Polynesia) Epsilon may delay their assault and give us time to strike back. Lets hope so.

Yes Polynesia is gone. That stack will move north and take Glassport, but next turn we'll have our three artillery. We just need to move them up. I'm guessing we should be able to kill quite a few but since that will pretty well wipe us out I'm not sure how much it will help.

Well, is there any move that won't wipe us out? Either way we're pretty much screwed, so killing their troops in exchange for being eliminated a few turns earlier is a good trade-off, imho.

Yep, indeed... I agree with Theoden.

Epsilon attacked Glassport. We saved the city and they suffered heavy casulties, but we lost a few infantry. Their second bigger stack was only a turn away from finishing the job so it was now or never.

We only had one artillery in position and their units were on a hill but most of them were well below 50% strength. Even so it didn't work out as well as it should.

To add insult to injury they have a great artist in the area.

We have 5 cities still and they are rather spread out so I think we'll be around for a while yet. Maybe long enough to give some sort of counter attack a second chance but for right now we are wide open.

I have to hand it to you 1889, you have done a good job of defending our civb with what you had :goodjob:

Thanks Joe but my efforts haven't amounted to much. We'll lose Magadan and Glassport this turn and our last three cities will then be disconnected with no way for troops to support each other. There may be a chance to retake Magadan but mainly I'll pillage roads and drag it out as long as possible

Epsilon is sure playing cautiously. They had about a 67% chance to take Magadan last turn but didn't try. So we got two infantry into the city and infantry killed their cavalry.

That’s about it for good news. Glassport fell and the artist acquired many tiles and roads for them. That allowed them to reach our other artillery and destroy it. They have a galleon of cavalry sailing up the coast to Weaverville. They should be their in two turns. I'm going to laugh if we have enough time to rush a machinegun there. Weaverville is the gateway to the artic ocean so if it goes they will be able to sail units up to Magadan and Bethel.

Epsilon again failed to attack Magadan with favorable odds. We rushed artillery in Bethel and infantry in Sinsburg where the bulk of our units are healing (2 infantry, 2 axes, 1 artillery). Next turn we will have the money to upgrade an axe to machinegun but maybe we should wait a little longer and make him into infantry.

The stack approaching Sinsburg is probably too strong for us (5 infantry, 1 MG, 3 cannons) so maybe we should save what little we have and send everyone toward Magadan.

Also with no cities to improve our workers have been busy chopping every forest on our continent. Only 11 forest tiles left! One worker was missed by Epsilon and is now chopping deep behind enemy lines in the southeast. The other three have chopped the last tree in the northeast and next turn will begin the long walk to the northwestern tundra.

You could disband workers if Epsilon threatens to take them.

Or run/sail them off and gift them to Aloha, just to annoy Epsilon (I don't know if it's feasible at all, though).

Yeah... better to disband them if they get into a tight situation, rather than giving Epsilon the advantage of capturing them. Ideally send them to an ally such as Aloha though.

Rushed the machinegun in Weaverville, boy will those cavalry be disapointed. Even if they pillage all those tiles we can still work the sea and draft an infantry.

Sinsburg is doomed. Sacraficed our artillery on their stack, Upgraded axe to machine gun, and left one infantry behind. The rest of the units are marching to Magadan.

I wanted to clear up the few units there but our artillery died without causing a single point of damage so that offensive has stalled to say the least. The town is still held by infantry and more artillery is on the way.

Disbanded to workers near Bethel. Nothing for them to do now so why risk capture?

Piffle has declared war. I was going to send maps to them and Aloha this turn but now I'm not sure what to do. I though Aloha and them were working together, maybe we shouldn't trust either of them.

On us ,

look in the Piffle commucation thread for more details

Wasn't Piffle only just talking of plans to get rid of Epsilon? Man, their word seems to be worth jack all... ;)

Lost Sinsburg and Magadan this turn. Line of sight is getting to be a problem. I can see so little of the map I have no idea what is coming at us.

Machine gun in Weaverville is promoted to combat II and fortified. The cavalry will probably start pillaging tiles there so I'm not sure we'll have a chance to build, rush or draft any more units there.

The good news is that I actually one a battle for a change. Artillery killed infantry in Magadan, which is now held only by a cannon with about 30% damage. We should take it back next turn. Should we occupy it or raze it?

Here are a couple interesting screenshots to ponder, any body want to guess what’s going on?

Aloha's and Piffle's power graphs sure look weird... any idea if Piffle gifted cities to Aloha? (not sure why they would do that though)

Should we occupy it or raze it?
IIRC, it's impossible to raze a city where the majority of culture of your own, so we'll be forced to keep it if we take it.

It must be either city gifts or unit gifts going on there...

I think Theoden's right about the forced recapture... a shame since it'd probably be better for us to raze it (at least if there's Epsilonian troops nearby), but never mind.

Magadan is ours again, no choice. Epsilon disbanded their unit rather than face defeat.
