Turn 200-209

On the F4 screen Piffle told us they are 4000 beakers into RR already (about 3 turns ahead of us). They are then planning to light bulb Electricity. I don't know if we have a tech alliance or are just trading but I'd guess it’s the latter. In fact we are last place in techs because of these wasted beakers. Anyway I've switched to Corporation because it leads to Assembly line.

Piffle is also starting to catch up in score now that they've figured out that war with Aloha was a waste.

As far as the "alliance" goes Aloha also says (in the F4 screen) that they don't want Piffle to win. So the level of cooperation is still pretty low, as you can probably tell by the failure to chat with anyone since we agreed to chat more than two weeks ago or so.

Obviously we can't seriously dent Epsilon militarily and even if we pull our heads out and get all the techs first we couldn't build and launch before Epsilon. UN is only a few techs away (Electricity, Radio, Mass Media) and Epsilon only has 42% of world population so I say lets make an agreement between us three to vote for whoever builds it first (we'll start trying for a great engineer) that pretty well evens up the race and is also quickest end to this game.

Somehow I expected an alliance with Piffle would be hard to work out...

I like UN idea, except that I believe UN victory requires 60% of the votes, which we are 2% short of.

We could plan a raid of several Epsilon cities towards the end to get the population requirements, it could also help slow down any spaceship attempt by Epsilon.

I don't see anything in the pedia that mentions the actual percentage. I might look into world builder about that that a little latter. But if Theo's number are right, at a minimum we would need to wipe-out two large coastal cities to adjust world population in our favor. That would be quite a feat by itself but every turn I seem to find a new Epsilonian frigate patroling the sea lanes.

Oh, theres one now. Turn played and sent.

We will finish Corporation next turn for exchanges with Aloha and Piffle, but oh wait, Piffle just got it from Epsilon probably. They are worthless as tech partners and I surly wouldn't count on their support in UN elections.

Basically every victory condition is blocked so I'm prepared to capitulate to Epsilon. How would you all feel about a post to that effect in the main forum? We can then all work toward electing The Leader as ruler of the world and start something else.

Well, that's an option. To be honest, I quite agree with you, at the moment this game has lost ost of it's interest because it's jst making moves until Epsilon wins. I don't think there's a reasonable way we could even try to hurt them, let alone beat them at the moment. Even if Piffle would come over to our side completely, it's too late.

Let's ask Aloha first though, I wouldn't want to hurt them if they're still playing on.

Finished Corporation and Aloha gave us biology. Since Piffle is unreliable the plan is to research electricity, radio and mass media. Then to increase production we will finish railroad if necessary. Hopefully we can get assembly line also and build a factory before we begin the UN. We will also try to develop a great engineer.

Finished Oxford and started a forge in Wheelville.

Why a forge in Wheelville, doesn´t it give us unhealtiness?

Where are we going to build the UN?

We should probably micromanage most cities again, now we've got Biology.

I was going to build it in Whellville and I figured unhealthiness, happiness and growth no longer matter...except to help make sure we keep 2nd place.

Doesn't Chowderton have better production = faster UN?

Not with bureaucracy but I can see about moving the capitol.

I'll have a look next time we have the save.

Also to build Oxford we used a bunch of preists and built some workshops. Some starvation was involved.

I wanted to build Ironworks but Oxford was our second national wonder there so we can see how long it takes to get that and capitol in Chowderton. That should be pretty impressive production. That would also allow 3 engineers, maybe we can get a GE yet.

The base hammer difference is rather low, so a palance change is probably not optimal. I'd build a forge in Wheelville, and then an aquaduct, and the UN later on. I'd leave Chowderton to build units (Heroic Epic!), btw, it needs to get the two eastern mines back from Southern Comfort. Other cities shoud either help economically, or build military. I wouldn't want Epsilon attack us.

Played. Moved some units to better defend Wheelville and Chowderton. Our next GP will be a scientist or profet in Wheelville then we have a shot at an engineer in Chowderton.

We'll see how things shape up but the capitol gives a 50% hammer bonus and only takes 5 turns to build. Ironworks is +100% but needs 18 turns or something.

Let's hope it's a prophet, we can settle him for an extra 2 base hammers.

We got a Artist :( Perhaps we can use him to bulb Mass Media/Radio?

That sounds good to me.

I agree, it's the least unattractive option, as culture bomb or super artist is worthless at this point.

I played another turn.

What about building Angkor Wat? It will give our priests extra hammers, making the UN build shorter. It wil take us 13/14 turns to build Angkor Wat.

We hooked up Coal, and I've started an Ironclad in Chowderton. Epsilon (and Piffle ) have Assembly Line and Railroad. There's no way we're going to be able to cut through Infantry and Machine Guns with Cavalry.
