Turn 52 - 1725 BC

So...the sh** hits the fan, eh? :p

If you want to get this personal: it has never occurred to you how all agreements you made in your period were always in their advantage. Don't be so blind and naive, Donovan. :nono:

I wouldn't call it personal. ;) Just a little taste of what I have had to deal with as leader over the past two months. And my proposals were always beneficial and fair to both teams, and not trying to throw away their trust by making unneccessary demands and stonewalling.

It certainly appears C3B is stupid enough to stay in peace with us, despite the fact that they have immortals. And I will not let that opportunity slip away. But concerning sending the jav thrower there: it's just to catch the barbarians; 100% understandable for them, so there would be no reason at all to see that as an intimidation. If they do the only reason could be an excuse.

And I'm not the leader, Cheetah is.

More eyerolling. What an honorable statesman.

I am sure they will understand when we send our UU their way. Why don't we send two of them to catch even more barbs? Or better yet, why don't we just declare war on C3B and be done with it?

Most deals looked fair but were in fact were much more beneficial for them than for us. But tell me, what did we gain by letting them pass our land bridge? And what did we gain by not exploring in the north? What would we have gained by a DMZ?
It was all in their interest! They just made it look fair. And now that I've read the chat with Joker I can see how effective they are in that.

Though they're not serious questions, I'll answer them anyway:
Question 1: one jav will be enough.
Question 2: Because we are not strong enough yet. Later on we might. :p But dependent on the map we could also work together. We just can't tell yet! There's no use in making an ally, just as there is no use in making an enemy. Again, we can't tell. (One more reason to keep exploring; also in the north!)

Including the possiblity of slaves, C3B's sight of our javs may assert our power/intiminate them. Or it may threaten them and provoke war... A mixed bag, this one is.

Matrix said:
I think neither will occur. But the second one definitely not.

Donovan Zoi said:
How can you be so sure? We have developed a stone-headed paranoia thanks to your outbursts, and would now go ahead and violate what is admittedly only a verbal agreement to keep anything stronger than a Warrior in that area. They should attack us on principle alone if we do this, and the fact that they are still cordial with us based on our inconsistencies show that they have patience.

If you want to keep pushing it, go right ahead. Cheetah foolishly put you second in command and bolted. C3B has come to us twice now with their best intentions, and we STILL don't have a clue. Well, some of us do.

Quit making judgments on what they have(Immortals) and listen to what they say(let's work together). Theirs has been a consistent message from the start that has only recently fallen on deaf ears on this side of the landbridge.

Matrix said:
Then the two warriors between us and C3B. I suppose the idea was to retreat the northern warrior  and I don't want to start a mutiny.....

Donovan Zoi said:
So go ahead and roll your eyes at the idea of honoring C3B's NPB. If it comes to war one day, Matrix, it will not be because you were right all along. It will be because you helped bring forth a self-fulfilling prophecy with your actions.

People of Fanatica, don't fall for this crap that your non-elected "leader" is pushing here.

Am I the only one who likes what I see in the game (I don't think I like the discussion right now though...) ???

Followup to question 1: I think we should at least have two JT outside the choke to hunt barbs. Though that would depend on the amount of barbs showing up...
Followup to question 2: A war is only desirable if we earn more from it than from peace. So if they want a good cooperation, I would welcome that.

Matrix did have a large support from the populace, so I think it would be correct to have him as deputy. I'm a bit to lazy to find a dictionary. Could someone tell me what bolted means? :)

And about the northern Warrior. If we at least could get him down I think it would help our negotiations so that we might get to send him back up.

Oh, and the reason I like what I see:
1. We want to improve our reputation with C3B.
2. There are barbs between us, and both sides have units there.
3. We have JTs to send over.

Let's propose a Cooperative Barb-hunt! :D
We take the barbs wondering around and can keep the slaves we get, and they get the barbcamps. By telling them that we would like to send JTs to the area between us, and proposing this, they might like it. We get some more friendly talks started and we get a "common enemy" to fight and could learn to trust each others in the mean time.

Any thoughts? Or is this only a stupid idea from a foolish leader?

If you want him elected then change the Constitution. I don't think Cheetah planed to "bolt" on us anyways.

How's about a military coup to calm the things down? I'll be your Pinochet leading our happy nation to prosperity and victory...
You know, I did endorse you for president. I think so anyway.

Umm back to the game!

Is that a galley or a curraugh we have exploring? We need a settler and defensive unit on the island ASAP, there be iron in them thar hills! :D

And harbors of course...

Matrix and Cheetah(and all of Fanatica), I would like to apologize for my untimely comments. I had no intention of creating any public backlash against Matrix, or to further divide the country. Matrix has in fact played the game properly despite his continued disagreement with that policy. I guess I just got a bit fed up with the continued lack of decorum while presenting his views, but that can be said about anyone on any given day.

And Cheetah, "foolish" and "bolted" were waay too harsh. I just disagree with granting power to a close rival, but then again you are a bit more neutral than I am on these matters. Though I still don't agree with your decision, it was I who was foolish for questioning your judgment.

Let's mend fences while I take a week off to think about my actions. I will be on vacation until the 29th.

:) I understood your frustration, as I was in about the same mood when we did everything they wanted (IMO). The current situation is pretty much a mix of your vision and mine, so I think we are now where we should be. No need to worry about your actions, Donovan. ;) (Though...you are a moderator. :mischief: :p)

OK, now that we are all friends again: back to the game.

Our curragh gains the most if it explores westward. There is an island (continent??) and we can explore the coast of the area C3B didn't want our northern warrior. In the east can be other surprises, but I think we gain the most if we had west.

I say we keep the western curragh going west and make another to go north on the eastern edge. There very well be a nation in the far far west and one up north, I just don't want to waste the turns to go back up north.
