Ok. Things are developing, both good and bad.

We produced a Settler this turn, and it is on its way to the plains NW of the northernmost Ivory north of Thunder Falls. We also got a Veteran Warrior out of Fanatazuma, but I stationed it there for now. Our newest JT is continuing east and the other is heading for Thunder Falls, to function as police and hunt barbs that show up in the northern wilderness. The coast of the island is nearly fully discovered, and we have only need 5 more turns to discover how to write things down... After that we will be heading for Map Making and then send a Settler and JT over to the island.

Here is our Domestic Screen:

Now for some news that will surely be taken well by our more militaristic citisens: Compared to those guys, we have a strong military! :D

Still, I fear this superior military power is taking away resources from growth.

We now have 2% of the worlds area, while C3B has 3%, and we both have 17% of the worlds population.

As far as I can tell from the maps, C3B have at least 6 cities, I will mark them on a map further down in this report.

And here is a Power Histograph:

Demographics:

We're still average in population and mfg. goods, but we are 4th (second last!) in land area, productivity and GNP.

C3B Mainland:

I have drawn in a more visible cultural border for C3B, and extended the grid lines into the unexplored area.

The green dots are C3B cities. In addition to the 3 dots and the two cities, I believe C3B have at least one other city that we have not detected so far.

So to sum up:
+ We are getting a new city, and Thunder Falls will be able to build SoZ faster in about 4 turns.
+ We are stronger than C3B in military power.
- C3B have more cities than us and are expanding better!

From all that I can see, C3B has it's main attension on expansion. If we do not wish to fall behind, we have to increase our rate of expansion.

I believe Zoi is able to produce one Settler every 10 turns, and I've also sat Fanatazuma to build a Settler, done in 5 turns.

Report complete.

Who cares if C3B has more land and cities, it means nothing while we have our biger military :satan:

The reason probaly is that we are doing a close city build, so our borders don't cover that much. They probaly are not, so they have not land.

Well ,with Thunder falls building our wonder we have one important city less at this stage to produce settlers ,so i guess that put's more emphasis on settlers for the other city's.Good that we have Zoi ,but it won't be enough i guess.

Emp: We know at least 4 of their cities location with certainty, the fifth could be 1 tile more to the SW, but as far as I see they don't build much wider than us.

More cities means more population, more population means more production, more production means that they might be under us now but they will move past us given time, and we will be hard pressed to keep up.

I won't let that happen! We need more cities!

Is Zoi doing good enough with a Settler every 8 - 10 turns? Could we increase its production with a granary? How much? Will it be increased enough for us to afford to build it?

I want Ryttylä to get a Settler out as soon as it's big enough as well.

Good news about the military! They should be really impressed with the size and strength of our forces. :goodjob:

Regarding growth: IMHO, Zoi can indeed benefit from granary. Whether the benefit is substantial enough and justifies whipping of some 20 shields (40 can be built brick-by-brick) is really hard to tell. At present, the city grows in size every 4 turns producing settler every 8 turns or so. This might be not sufficient. Other towns should also build settlers when they grow in size. This can help our development a bit. However, I would not try to spread very widely in this game and grab lots of land. Being big also means being vulnerable to attacks. It might be required to be especially careful with coastal placement of cities since we have a Viking civilization in the game with amphibious berserks.

Overall, we are doing more or less OK. We need to expand but our expansion is more or less satisfactory atm. If we get 9-10 cities by 1000BC, or may be 11-12, it can be considered as a good success. Other teams apparently have settler factories functioning. Since we did not have a food bonus on start, we were deprived of this powerful tool for development. Also, we could have build a city in between Zoi and TF (so-called site B back then) which would have allowed us to share the cows between 2 towns for +4 food in each of them with growth every 5 turns for 2 towns hence making 2 settlers every 10 turns. Back then, the option did not pass through the poll and was rejected. IIRC only Kuningas and me voted for it. To put it short, we get what we deserve. But it is not that bad.

I will play the save in 3 hours if no one objects. Please try to come to #demogame_cfc_isdg then.
