Turn off culture flip?

IRRC, during the game set up menus, there should be a box that says something like "allow cultural converstions". If this box is checked, then flips will occur. Of course, I think this is accurate.

don't see it in the setup menus - what is IRRC?

i just installed the latest patch too. :(

do you have conquests? if you don't, you can't shut it off. If you do, near the game victory types, near allow scientific leaders is allow culture conversions

IIRC, [civ3] does NOT have a turn off culture flip, even when modded. [ptw] and [c3c], in a patches, does have this feature.

sorry, you might not have read the previous post - WHAT IS IIRC???

If I Recall Correctly. Here you will find a list of commonly used acronyms at CFC. And I'm pretty sure that the cultural conversions switch was added in PTW. So since you're still on Vanilla Civ3, you won't have that option.

(I think he meant IIRC instead of IRRC....)

thanks. i think i might be too normal for discussions with that guy...holy frijoles!!! thanks....

We all do it. Just stick around long enough.

I'm actually a self-descriped acronymophile.

Are you playing with the most recent patch? The original release of civ3, if I recall correctly, culture-flipped much more easily than it does now.

PTW v 1.27f does have the option to "allow cultural conversions". Just uncheck that to turn off flipping.

Me, I just can't bear to do it. Current Persians game = four flips from other empires to me so far. The Romans lost a size 12 city to me that way. Seeing that window that says "The citizens of X have deposed their ruler and pledged loyalty to us! They yearn to be with us!" is just sweet.

Same here, I'm a really cultural person and I wouldn't be able to play with that off.

I find it the best way to clear 'my' coastlines of the cities made by sea-borne settlers in search of a piece of wind-swept tundra to call their own. Better than declaring war on their mother country anyway, especially if they are next-door with horde of units stacked up.

What I'd like to see is some kind of code that causes more cities from a particular civ to start flipping to you, after one city from that civ flips and then sees the obvious superiority of your empire.

In my Spanish game, a Viking city flipped to me, and immediately received a marketplace and library (those barbaric Vikings couldn't be bothered to build either). I felt sorry for them, but it broke my heart to have to send in the militay to liberate the rest of the Vikings from their misery. :king:
