turn speed

Is there a way to speed up the ai waiting for your turn. I have about 50 cities and there are 6 other civs all aroud the same size as me. It takes forever to take a turn. I have all the animations off.

Try pressing the "Shift" key during the AI's turn. Some people reported it speeds up the game.

Maybe you should get more memory. My empires are allways way too large and I never find the AI to be slow.

More memory might not help that much. I've got 194MB and I still can't play on huge.

Sounds like you need to upgrade your CPU if you want to play on huge. I've not tried a huge map but it was getting slow on a large map using a PIII 866. I would've thought a 1.2GHz+ CPU should be much better.

hold down shift to fast foward through the AI's turn, it will speed them up until you let go of the shift key.

turn off all animations and show moves (except maybe enemy show moves).

I got a p4 1.9 ghz with 512 ddr memory, and every thing works fine on a huge map right to the end! didn't know of the shift thing, thanx!!
