Turnplay Log

Peace with Aloha. Send Steam Power to Epsilon. Research set to Physics.

Revolt to Free Market and Representation. Would be nice to do Mercantilism but we make too much from trade routes w/ Epsilon.

We have scientists coming at:

Next turn out of anarchy in Brilliant @ 72% odds (or engineer) @ 500 gpps.
We could then have a scientist in Hamburger in 3 turns, but odds are for an artist, eek.

So Treacle Cottage is our next best shot at 304 GPPs and 95% odds of scientist.

We can shoot for one at Balderdash at 50%+ odds (other is Great Merchant points). This would be due in 4 turns or so after TC; it can work on Oxford U in the meantime.

For Oxford, we need stone. So the settler from our westernmost town due next turn will go for the stone and fish site in the west.

All in all we should be cruising along.

The introduction of Free Market and Representation takes Physics from 19 turns @ +5 gpt to 13 turns @ +24 gpt with a spearman disband.

Some cities need harbors I suppose. We still have 75 gpt in unit costs. We can disband 2 warriors and an archer and replace them with a unit but that is still not much help.

The settler from the western most town will go to the stone as iterated before.

Great Scientist hopefully next turn.

Not a good turn!

Loco is dead. We get an engineer instead of a scientist. He can build couple of the crappier wonders, or Ironworks somewhere or finish our Oxford. he can also highlight 1200 beakers towards Railroad, which might be an option since...

Innovia got Physics and the free scientist. Maybe we should trade with them since we have little invested in Physics? I switch research to RR (15 turns) just in case.

Epsilon offered us State Property. I counteroffered for Biology; which do we want? I figure Biology was more urgently needed at the moment since we cant switch civics for a few turns anyways.

No big surprise on Innovia getting Physics. We figured as much when Aloha researched SciMethod. I figure they will be heading for Artillery next.

Biology would be a nice tech, especially if we have some extra happiness. State property would also benefit those cities with workshops. I'm curious, though. What ever became of the tech deal with Epsilon? Is Innovia really willing to deal with us now?

I have no idea. It seems they would want to trade since according to Robi D Aloha research is bad.

I assume our tech deal is still on. I dont know where the particulars outside of the actual techs are though.

We should be able to highlight Electricity after acquiring Physics and with a little gusto and using the Engineer we can have RR in 9 or 10 turns.

Turn played. With Biology we have a bit of growing to do. Treacle Cottage should have a scientist in 5 turns. Stone city will be founded next turn.

We also received a message from Epsilon. What should we tell them?

Conrovia is founded. RR in about 7 or 8 turns.

The workers are running out of things to do so they are about to 1) cottage the last grass by the capital; 2) road and prep the forests to the southwest to chop; and 3) prepare to be in position to railroad our most productive cities.

Stone should be hooked up in 4 turns. At that point we can quicken our build on Oxford.

Do we need troops or troop upgrades to Infantry when we go there? Without a war i dont see a reason but thoughts are good.

What is the long term plan?

Conrovia completes a road on the stone. Next a quarry.

GS in 2 turns at TC. Hamburger will then hope for a GS at 700 GPPs 2 turns later; the odds are 60% GA, 24% Engineer. The rest scientist. Should we wait on this one or try in the capital? Probably the cap is better since it is almost 50/50.

Physic is sent from Aloha for Biology and Liberalism. I accept, so our GS will highlight Electricity.

The Leader has Corporation and nothing else.

Sorry for a lack of update. Not much is going on. We destroy a barb city and pillage 4 gold.

Railroad next turn but we have no coal! The settler dispatched at Zapotec is double timing over to the coal/wheat/oasis spot. Do we want that or coal/fish/incense? The location is SE of the capital.

No one mentioned Kremlin so I had forgotten about it until I realized it will help quite a bit rushing nukes if we go there. Hopefully the 4 turns lost wont cost us the thing. It is due in 13 in Hamburger.

Epsilon sends Corporation so we can get Assembly Line next turn.

Aloha is on artillery, it will take them 15 turns more or so.

Innovia I think is doing Corporation.

GS #2 is due next turn in Leonidas. 2 more for Fission and we should be set to coast along and accrue gold for buying nukes if we get Rocketry from Innovia or Aloha. I figure we build Manhatten until one turn left and put it in the queue, wait until the turn before we get Rocketry to finish it and have a stockpile of gold to rush nukes along with forest chops.

Aloha wants to set a date for peace. When would we want?

A screenshot, maybe?

When I saw them pop SciMeth, I was pretty sure they were heading for arty's. Given a choice, I'd rather have Artillery over Infantry.

 I thought we were already at peace?

Yes they want a date for the end of peace. They dont want "til Epsilon is dead" so I asked them for input unless we have any ideas on a date.

I'll dig up a screenshot from somewhere else in the thread. Its a recognizable spot.

Found one. The fish is thereabouts somewhere, I thought we couldnt get it and the wheat but maybe we can.

To be honest, KC, I'm not sure how to help you on this one. I think your nuke/kremlin plan is sound. But who are we planning on nuking? I'm just not comfortable with our overall game plan.

But it also sounds like you might be brokering an alliance with Aloha. If that is the case, then the fact that Aloha wants a date is most troubling. A true alliance does not have an end date. For example, our dealings with Epsilon have not included a "number of turns of peace" clause for some time. If Aloha is insisting that they know ahead of time when the alliance ends, then how can we even have an alliance?

Not much help, I know. My apologies for that ...

Would the desert tile that is 1S of the insense pick up the wheat, coal, and fish? Or does the wheat/coal/oasis have better production prospects? Assuming that city would have the food to work the hills ... :dunno:

Well nuke Epsilon mainly, but then there is the thought that we can nuke Innovia too and build the missile defense thing and try to settle as much land as possible in one turn to win domination coupled with an attack on Innovia dirty like. Sounds complicated but its feasible in theory.

I think we pick up the fish at the new city so thats probably the way to go with that one.

We also need a city by the uranium and thats coming up in 6 turns from Zapotec.

Our 2nd scientist is born in Leonidas and that city begins work on a fishboat for the new coal city.

RR is in next turn and then we will be broke. Oxford is due in 4 in the capital and then maybe a factory or five will be built if we receive Assembly Line in due course.

Epsilon Ports of Entry and Nuke Targets:

1- Innovia Force One
2- Inn. Force Two
3- Aloha Force
4- Us

Nukes at all 4, along with the Capital, Mighty Bulwark, and Sunset Fortress. (7).

We attack at Sunset and Point 4 from Brilliant, take both, and move on Mighty Bulwark.

So we've coordinated an attack plan with Innovia and Aloha, I take it? Interesting plan ... a couple of questions, though. Is Innovia and Aloha aware that we are going after nukes? If so, one or both may try for the defense shield before we get to it. Also, is there any risk that our new allies may try and backstab us by leaking our nuke plans/involvement to Epsilon? Not sure what they would have to gain, but I'm also not sure that I trust these two either.

Also as you're making these plans with the other 2, realize that Eternal Eye is the holy city with the shrine. It would be quite a jewel to capture. The other thing to keep in mind is that as long as Epsilon is running Confucianism, they will have visibility into our HE city at Hamburger.

No havent coordinated yet just drawing up plans to propose. I dont know who to talk to in Innovia.... any ideas?

Dont know if I trust the other two either... we could try to get an engineer rather than a scientist at Hamburger to help rush it. Aloha is aware I believe but not Innovia.

Eternal Eye is a great city but also we have to consider if one of the other teams want it/get to it first. This may also play into the decision to nuke or not.

In that case, I'd probably go for the GE then. What tech enables the defense shield anyway? I don't think I've ever built it ...

Your guess is as good as mine.

Edit: Ah Satellites. 750 shields and a TEAM project, so its like space ship parts. 75% chance of nuke interception. We have to destroy their research before they get there.

RR discovered. Probably about 2 turns until we can settle coal and start rails. First up is Hamburger to speed the Kremlin.

Really we dont have to get involved in the Epsilon war. We can trade 5K gold in exchange for Rocketry and let Inno or ALoha do the dirty work.

GS #3 in 5 turns.

I set research to Democracy for Uni Suff. Since Epsilon is researching Electricty (grr, I thought we could delay them a bit), we dont really have a tech plan besides accrue gold. Demo is due in 17 turns at 0 science.

I also sent a message to innovia asking for a meeting.

We need about 10 more workers I think for railroading and chopping soon.
