ok we need to make a decision. It looks like a dead end at the southern tip of the island. I'd propose that we move to the east to see what's up with that oasis to the SE of the capital.
I've been sitting here staring at the map and speculating what I'd have done if I were Rik and designing a map for 5 civs. Do you suppose it's possible that (with the y wrap) all 5 were connected to each other, but there could be a different barrier in each direction...mountains, jungle, tundra and desert. With the y wrap, all 5 could have the very same barriers, but at different angles from their capitol.
I'm not sure that's important yet, but when we get to seriously looking for the other civs, it might mean beelining for the middle of the worst possible terrains as the fastest way to meet them. Or, more likely, I don't know what I'm talking about.
Turn 13 played. I moved the Warrior east as suggested and revealed the remainder of the coastline where we have discussed placing our second town. The red/white dot suggests the location. I have also drwn a suggested circle for our Warrior to follow. Our next town should be located in the SE near the small lake so getting scouting of that area seems appropriate. Besides the first Warrior out of the new location could move west and start the scouting of the western lands. We will have two Warriors finished there before the next Settler is due anyway.
It's all good. I'm moving a little slow but the fellas are doing good.. a little rest is all that's needed. The good news is that the nurse told me that frequent use will "clean the pipes out quicker". which equates to more fun martial stuff after the fellas are up to it
We have our first settler, one other team at size 3 the other two at 2.
EDIT: Looks like Council is making every effort at being true to their team name. They tend to take the longest playing their turns. Seems a bit odd if they need to discuss each turn at this stage in the game, one would assume every team run according to a plan but obviously not.
well the thing is that we are first in line. Their pop won't drop until it is their turn. So although technically we are the first, any of the other teams except team FREE could have a settler. What's interesting is that Gong grew last turn to pop 3. But I suspect from the numbers in turns 1-9 that other teams had a food bonus in their starting 9 tiles.
I forgot we are first up, so obviously the others could also build a settler
I guess we will know what the others have managed to do next turn but at worst we are equal first with other teams in getting a settler out.
Just one more thing, we voted for raging barbs and got restless while we were thinking we would have the ottomans to keep the ag civs in check, that we ended up with an ag civ means we ended up voting against ourselves, damn us
I would just like to make the re state an eariler concern that we have enough military to cover an barbs that may bother us. It wont hurt us as much to take a few turns longer to get to 10, 20 or 30 cities then it would to be losing gold and improvments to barb raids.
