Turns 1-20

why is everyone so intent on not exploring the possible locations of city #2? In my opinion, we need to get on down to the south and find a good spot for that settler coming about in 7 turns from now. That doesn't leave much time to dilly-dally

I think I'd hook around SW-S-S-S-SE-SE to get the most out of our hills and mountains for the view. This ends our warrior on high grounds near a river, which is our most likely potential city location. And in these 7ish turns we'll have had a good view of what's up around.

First Settler will be ready in 8 turns. If we take the detour via the mountain we will only have uncovered the area to the west to appr. the mountain SW/SW/S of the capital. That is if we move W/NW/S/S/S and then onto a hill either SE or preferably S. But maybe that is OK. We should be able to get a good location in that area. Until a better site reveals itself I guess jungle 3N of capital is the best stop ATM.

Edit: Beorns SW/S/S is what we have talked about earlier and I see no real reason to forgo that idea for the mountain. But it is OK to go via the mountain if the 3N site is OK with you guys.

Phew. That's a relief on the mm'ing.

I think we need to find more grass. I hate jungle and plains are not the most ideal with forests blocking the irrigation. West and south searching high ground seems to make sense.

We know we have flood plains to the E (and S-SE with a stretch of imagination). This is not ideal food, one could say, but it certainly is better than none - if we are going to risk jungle disease, why not FP disease?

IMHO, it beats the jungle city to the north. If I had to send a settler blindfolded he'd go E-E-NE to catch FPs and whatever water that is. That we can send our warrior over the mountains to the south will probably decide on wether to send S#1 to the S FP's or to the FP's we know.

Incidentally, this reminded me of how nice it was to move several tiles a turn along unroaded river tiles when playing freeciv back in computer college classes.

yeah currently I'm for going to the FP to the general east-ish... but I would settle that jungle last.

I would even be for sending the settler blindly to the south gambling that there is nice fields of grass like in The Sound of Music... speaking of , I'm watching American Idol right now and that sound of music... well sucks

well I have an issue... if I play too much civ, my wife hides my CD. Good news is that I have that part resolved. Bad news is that continued play could end in cold wife.

Bad news is that continued play could end in cold wife.

That made me chuckle. Since I'm the player in this household, I can think of a LOT of comments to make about cold wives...should my husband EVER take it into his head to hide my CIV CD.

turn 7 save from GONG is in. I'm in the process of playing our turn 8

- move warrior SW as discussed.
- check worker (2 turns to complete)
- check shield & food bins (6 & 0 respectively)
- notice unhappy citizen and increase lux rate to 10% and writing goes from 35 to 42 turns
- settler in 6 turns

possible archipeligo?

If it's an archipelago and we're alone, should we try and get map making as our freebie tech from philo?

That's an interesting thought. I would say yes since contact will be what accelerates the pace.

Its a bit early to guess that, it could just be inland lakes

turns in.. I'll play again to keep it moving

looks like hills galore to the south.. possibly a spot is available to the SE??

looks like we're way behind in babymaking

The SW plain looks like a good, low-priority spot for settling. Sounds like more hiking for hairy.

if I'm not around... here is what I believe should happen next turn...

- worker start roading the cow
- Beef-cake move south to the hill

wouldn't hurt to check the other screens. Culture pops the turn after next, so no need to change citizen allocation

Tubby, I studied your spreadsheet properly and would be aware of the 'things to do' in case it comes up...

I am playing the save now
