Is there a step by step guide to just adding a unit into the game? I have Kael's guide, but are there any others that just deal with just adding a unit. That is all I want to know for now.

The way I learned how to mod Civ 4 is step step. I started first with adding a unit and went on from there. I know it cannot be that difficult to add a simple unit from the user created unit graphics thread. Thanks for any help.

No one in this whole wide forum knows how to mod a simple biplane into a mod, or any unit for that matter? I don't get it. How can modding CiV be so hard?

When they release the .dll, will that make things easier? CIV is easy to mod. Why is CiV so difficult? The game has been out for a year and a half, and not one step by step guide for adding a simple unit. You have to be joking.

It's almost like in civ4, but civ5 style :D

Okay, just joking, give me a few minuts hours, I'll post one, but it not so different if you do it using only XML...

But I'll make a tutorial based on SQL/XML, so it will be different, just make sure you know how to create a basic mod using kael guide, because I'll assume this as a pre-request to do any modding.

I just want to learn is all. Trying to find the best to start do that is causing me grief. I know xml quite well, so that should help. To start with I just wanted to learn the basics, and add a unit, and maybe mess with the tech tree a bit. Nothing major.

Worldbuilder has been no problem for me, my issue seems to be with modbuddy and steam. I cannot get steam to read my modbuddy, it keeps saying I have an error and tells me to redownload Visual Studio 2010. However , I can get it to work inside the CiV folder via the modbuddy.exe. It just does not link through my steam account.

As far as Kael's guide goes, from that I can learn to create a basic mod, that's no problem. Thanks for your help Gedemon, and anyone else who can give me some tips.
