Join in for a 5-player PBEM (AI possible but unlikely) with an aim of three turns per week.
Regent level, not pangea, accelerated production.

Salut !

Just before I saw your post, I was thinking "why not setting up a PBEM game for French players ?". I've never played multi so far, but could be interested. So I thought of having 5-6 French players and no AI, so we could learn a bit from each other, have a game 100% in French (that's not common !). I would like to have a veteran from PBEM to "manage" the game (telling it's your turn, answering to miscellaneous problems about this type of game, whatever, could be one of the player of course).

What do you think ? Or you prefer to have people from all over the world ? I had this idea after noticing this Dutch PBEM... If you're intereted in this idea, we could start searching for other French players. If not, well, I could join your game. Accelerated production sounds crazy to me... Is this to speed up things ? Because PBEM is sooo long ?

I don't mind a French-only PBEM, provided we could gather enough French people.

So shortcomings : more difficult to find players AND same time (well normally) so we cannot use the different locations to make the game run smoother.

But as I say I don't mind. In these forums, apart from you, I know Steph and LPLB are French too but that is about it.

I have played multi before but never PBEM so I cannot qualify as experienced. I do that because I want both to play one and to check a few things before creating an historical PBEM scenario.

So try to gather a few French people if you can, I will check with Steph (but don't think he will be into that at least right now). Then we can make it French PBEM.

At the moment I have promised to let kryszcztov try to gather some French first. If he fails (likely), you would be definitely welcome.

I understand about the same location that will slow the game... Maybe it's not a good idea, who knows ? Well, the Dutch managed it though, even though they've been into it for more than 6 months !!! I recognize French modders here, and I see Yoda is interested, so maybe we could forget the French PBEM and set up a "PBEM for modders" !!! As I'm engaged in my own mod, at my pace...

What is your idea of historical PBEM scenario ?

Sorry for that. It is just you wrote Christohe in Polish. Actually I am not Polish either but I spent some (romantic and censored for Yoda) time there...

Main advantage for national PBEM is language but I think our English is definitely enough (and Yoda answers so quickly to any post proves he does even need to think before writing English .
So be it !

Historical scenario ? Hush hush ! Secret. Anyway I might wait for Conquests though it is not necessary. It might about Reconquista (redone it though haven't published it). Might be something else...

Yep, could be nice to have French as a language for once... even though I don't care. I've just sent a French player an e-mail about this thread. He was the 1st one with who I got contact here and had a private SG. He also posts here...

Ok, I hope we can set this up. I'll edit my sig too, just for an ad. I have a few exams this week and then I move back home for the beginning of summer holidays (I'm in Bordeaux right now). I hope I can connect my computer to our new ADSL line too... So I'd like to wait for next week-end to start, to be sure I can play. But we can discuss the settings now, and then ask someone for a map. I think this is the way to do in PBEM.

Parameters :

5 sounds OK to me (4 makes too much like 2 vs 2 while a fifth gives a certain smoothness to possible alliances).

Accelerated production is usually for start-up like in MP to avoid waiting long turns at the beginning just pressing enter... but this option can be discussed.

Map : small I guess. With continents ?

BTW what is a succession game. Different players play the same game ?

I played some multiplayer, not much though.

5 sounds fine to me. I would prefer a tiny map, but small is fine too.

Ok, one more player to find... Then we could be running this game. LouLong, of course you understand that you will RULE the game. I suppose you would have to check how the game will move... How will we play ? It would be nice of you to write a post about everything to know about how we will proceed. Like, how to send the saves (e-mails, attachments here...?), if we can show some spoilers somewhere (else ?)... You need to find someone to generate a map too, with all the settings that we will decide (your game settings/rules and the civs we will choose).

There won't be any AI player : does "Regent" mean anything ? Maybe the tech pace or other stuff...?
Will you turn on accelerated production ? Is it necessary ? I've never played with it.
Will there be special rules ? What does "Tutti Frutti" mean ?...

I think I could find other things to ask, but that's all I can think right now.

I'm looking forward to all these answers so as to make my choice about my civ.

I'm a new here (after lurking quite a while ) and would like to take part in your PEBM if possible.

I'm a regular CIV3-Player (but no expert) and have played a PBEM game with a friend, so I know the routine.
