tweaking the terrorist unit

before i go giving abilities around, just wanted to ask if someone did it already..

does the "cruise missile" ability makes a unit the ability to destroy itself after combat?


i want to mimic the fact that terrorist die doing their mission, and the only units that seems to do this in the game is the cruise missile, tactical nuke, and icbm, and obviously i dont want the other 2 due to their mass destruction (maybe as a separate unit by itself, the nuclear terrorist)

anyway,

if so, does that ability also make the terrorist unable to move as a normal land unit and can only be rebased and bombard just like a cruise missile?
 
mm..sounds promising,

but does it attack using bombard? or normal attack...and does it have to end the turn in a city?

the idea is so it moves around the map like a normal unit
 
think of it as a worker.

IT IS EXACTLY the same as worker. doesnt need to end in citys, or what not.

LOOKS EXACT SAME AS A WORKER.

BUT-

It can bombard (i changed from 16 to 12)
it has hidden nationality
it has stealth (i took that off, as u still wud be able to see the unit coming...)

so does it die when it bombards too? or only when it attacks


i saw your other posting, ill prob play with flc this weekend so ill see if i can make the guy blow up

mm..im also debating whether to add a hidden landing craft unit so i can deliver special ops, terrorists to my enemies:P
 
It cannot attack. it is the same as a worker, cant attack, cant defend. can be captured.

It can only bombard, and it does die.

you cud change the settings, but I feel that that way is the best.

and i dont think air-droppin terrorists is needed, hence the hidden nationality.

mm...i dont know about being captured.. can we put 1 def so itll die rather than capture...i mean, what kind of terrorists can be captured so they can then be used against its own ppl..


anyways....everyone has their own opinion :P

i put my terrorist unit as 1/1/1 treat all land as road.. and bombard range of 1, ai strategy as cruise missile

i mean, they can attack if they want, they have a gun...they just not good at it...their specialty is blow things up....
 
the reason i have 1 att is more like a symbolic gesture... the terrorist i have needs synthetic fibers as a tech requirement (maybe communism is a better place, but anyhow), the point is, at that tech period, a 1 in attack cant really do anything, i just wanted to put the unit as something that at least can defend somewhat himself..he cant really kill any other units that are produced at that time period.. (maybe if he got lucky)..


and the treat all terrain as road...thats sort of follows with the reason above...if you put the poor guy 1 movement, no stealth, and bombardment range of 1, do you actually expect him to be able to reach his target when tanks and planes are all over the place?
 
By that age, their shud be roads about.

He would have to utilise the road structure, and alot of the time, the AI doesn't attack workers.

Hidden nationality shud ensure this.

Here are my ideas of terrorists:

Suicide Bomber Terrorist:
-------------------------------
Movement of 1, does NOT treat all terrains as roads (terrorists are just regular people.. that is what the Israeli government have found out through time dealing with terrorists)
a lot of terrorists are students, workers, grocery owners, etc etc.. the 'qualified' terrorists (trained terrorists) does NOT go on suicidal missions, they always consider they can die of course but their missions are different.
Therefor, a terrorist should have no attack, bombard range of 1, movement of 1 and decent defense (when a terrorists spots a cop or a soldier he imediatly blows himself up..).
something like defense of 5 i guess...
should be able to blow up like a weak cruise missile.

Suicide Attacker Terrorist:

These ones are also dangerous, and should be more expensive in the game than suicide bomber terrorist.
It carries both a dynamite belt and a gun/rifle. it should have all the abilities of a suicide bomber terrorist with a moderate attack (6, like infantry, only its much more lethal, it shoots everything it sees and doesnt care about citizens). it should have movement of 1, and it should have 'Blitz' on qualities, cos it shoots and attacks in a blitz and not an ordered attack, just a 'shoot-everything-you-see-and-die' kinda attack, and then he blows himself up of course. if he aint dead by the end of he's turn, he should have the ability to bombard himself afterwards :)

Nuclear Suicidal Terrorist:

These ones almost doesnt exist (as we hope...), therfor they should have all the abilities of the SUICIDE BOMBER terrorist, but they should also be a tactical nuke, and they should be VERY VERY VERY expensive (much more expensive than an ICBM for example), because terrorists barely get their hands on a nuclear weapon, and it is very hard to use it for the untrained person.
It should have prequisite nuclear power of course, the manhattan project, should only be avaliable to countries that discovered rocketry, should require uranium and it should have no attack.
should have very weak defense too, because its much more complicated to activate a nuclear weapon once you are shot than lets say regular bomb..
most nuclear terrorists who get cought dont get thier mission done, if they dont get cought they get their mission done and die.

Attacker Terrorist:
----------------------
Carries only gun/rifle, knows he can die but does not accomplish mission in order to, therfor he should have weak defense, strong attack, blitz and 1 movement.

Bomb Loader Terrorist:
-----------------------------
Carries dynamite/explosives, puts them on hidden places on timer and goes, we could express that on civ3 with hidden nationality like all the other terrorists, moderate-weak bombard, defense of 1, movement of 1 and no attack at all.
