Two questions - Out of curiousity

I've also felt from reading the boards that when you talk about 'level' you also have to determine if people are playing through only with advantageous starts.

If I waited to only get a really good set-up, I would certainly play a level higher than playing everything random. Also, playing with a good set-up only may impact which civ's you like best.

Breunor

Demigod with a good start. By that I mean a river. I dont look for anything else.

I play emporer or monarch to relax.

I am going to say I can beat diety although I never have. The rapid pace and pressure is not too much fun.

90% of my games are standard continets, the other 10% is standard pangea. Almost always default barbs.

I like Russia, America, France and Celts for DG. I like England, India and germany on monarch or emporer.

I once played a game where I never spent a single gp on anything. No unit support, trades, luxuries or city improvements.

Did you win, though? ;)

How was "victory assured" in this game?

1.I've been playing at Diety the past few weeks, mostly with the Romans and the Chinese. I don't think I'll be returning to a lower level as I've been thoroughly enjoying the challenge. I usually get my ass kicked, though.

2.I haven't played every civ but most of them, and my 3 most favourite are the Greeks, the Romans and the Byzantines. The first for their UU, the second for their traits and the last for the Dromon/Seafaring combo. The Dromon can potentially get a whopping 3+1+1 movement points (with Great Lighthouse).

3.For the human player Barbs are hard to beat on Diety, the AIs promote units at their expense before they come knocking on your door. Nevertheless, they're a part of Civ world and I like having them around. I have them set at Roaming.

1) Emperor
2) Japanese, Egypt, Mongol, Arab
3) Sendetary(No barbs are too blunt, Raging Hordes... I feel that Barbs do not suck AI so much than human player, but if a massive uprise make 30-40 horsemen for barbs and they pillage everything in my land then I just have to quit).

Warlord/Regent

I mostly like the vikings, i also like the Americans,Byzantines, and French. Recently i have been trying to play random so i get used to play with all the civs instead of the ones that i like the most.

I mostly like them off, but sometimes i feel like slaughtering a barbarian or two.

1) Demigod, more or less. I've tried Deity but gotten streamollered. Maybe some time I'll try start-shopping on deity.

2) Greece (traits), China (UU), and Rome (intangible), though I haven't played all the expansion civs yet. Too many other things taking up my time.

3) I'm a perfectionist at heart, so one single messy smelly barbarian trudging around by beautiful empire is one too many. That said, I play with at least some barbs to keep me on my toes.

Whatever is one above Regent, I just made the jump. :)

I play as Random civs. I let the civ I get dictate my style of play. By far my favorite civ is India, but other favorites include the Celts, Russians and Egyptians. My least favorite so far is by far the Hittites, though I'm not a huge fan of Portugal either.

I usually put barbarians on sedentary, but sometimes I'll put it higher. I don't like using random barbarians because sometiems that gives you none, which sort of cripples expansionist civs.

Monarch. ;)

monarch

I Like the Babs for cultural. Persians for warmongering.

Barbs = no preference.

Yay, someone else who likes the Babylonians!!! :goodjob:

Level?

Emperor, though I could probably win at DG or even Deity with a decent start.

Civ?

I'll happily play as anyone, but the Celts and the Mayans are the ones I like best. Greece/Korea, too, because Com/Sci are very nicely balanced traits.

Barbs?

I always play with random barbs. So I guess, no, I don't mind them!
