Types of Addictions

Great thread. I am so guilty on so many counts here....too many to name. But resource addiction is one I am getting a rehab in right now. Had to fight for horses and iron...two seperate wars, and now I have to do it a third time for saltpeter. None of the first 3 were in my area of my continent. It's like going through withdrawls.

1. Great Library Addiction - it's not that I cannot play without it, but the advantage obtained is too great to ignore

2. World War Addiction - I'm always at war with another civ and sell a late tech to all the other civs to declare war on my enemy

I'm addicted to smiling faces in my cities. I usually try to get markets and all the luxuries as soon an possible, no mater what it costs. I just love to see all those happy faces. And when the time comes to renew a deal, and I don't have anything reasonable to trade for a luxury, I'll probably sell my own mother to avoid unhappy guys. :crazyeye:

I guess this habit comes from the need to cope with war weariness in republic. I'm too vindictive once I'm at war, and i usually won't stop until I've eliminated my enemy. That's when I need lots of luxuries. I know there are more rational ways to do this, but I just need to kill those ugly Aztecs or Babylonians, once the war has begun. And to do that, I need my luxuries.

That's not an addiction NickyH. Other than territoral gains that's the surest way to increase score.

Forum addiction has lead to another problem...Start a new game addiction. As a newbie, learning new strategies/tactics happens frequently. Many times I'm so eager to try out new things learned from the forum that I stop playing my current game and start another game before mastering previously learned strategies/tactics.
