UI is Mangled

Civ has several known bugs when loading user-interface mods, but the good news is they're easily avoided. That one in particular looks like Civ's cache bug.

  1. Clear cache.
  2. Only one version of the mod is installed.
  3. Update mods between one game and starting the next.
  4. Up-to-date CiV version (can cause problems for Mac users).
  5. Clear ModUserData
  6. Try the mod alone (to see if another mod is causing the problem).
The game loads properly for me 100% of the time when the first 4 conditions are met (5 and 6 are rarely a problem). Details are in the Reporting Bugs thread. :)

I'm suffering from much the same problems, but am curious how I clear the cache? Any help would be appreciated.

  1. Close CiV and delete the cache folder. It contains temporary data that can cause bizzare bugs after changing mods:
    C:\<username>\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\cache
    .
  2. Ensure you have only one version installed in the MODS folder.
    .
  3. Try TBC alone with other mods moved out out of the Mods folder:
    C:\<username>\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS
    .
  4. Sometimes if you delete the ModUserData folder it can solve rarer problems.
    C:\<username>\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\ModUserData
    .
 
Ok, just wanted to point out my experience with the ui bug/issue:
if I get the "no leader picture" loading screen, either with CSD enabled or not, and then I get to the main menu again, disable all the mods, and setup a game from the mod section (even if I didn't activate a single mod) the game ALWAYS crashes.
No cache clearing, no folder moving, nothing fixes that.
But, after the crash, if I get into the game and activate Thal's mod and CSD, presto! The game launches! The leader picture is there... but when i found the first city, there are no buildings in the city screen.
Then I tried all the above with Mortal D fix, and it works flawlessly. (Thanks for the fix, mate! :goodjob:)
Hope my report will help rooting out the problem. ;)

UPDATE:
Playing a game with the fix above, I'm not getting the Great Person with the modified social policies in the tradition branch, the engineer nor the artist, don't know if it's related, but i'm pointing it out.
 
Well deleting the Cache didn't help me, & nor did removing all the mods except v .70 of this Mod, so I'm not really sure how to fix this issue. Not much point playing the game if the UI isn't loading :(.

I have a feeling this is related to some SQL work Thal and I did last week...if anyone is free right now, try deleting the TBCBuildingreq.sql file (in the same folder as the vanillabreq.xml file) and removing its reference from the modinfo file. This might alleviate the problem, though I am not 100% positive on this. If so, I know where the bug is.

Gazebo I just tried your solution, with the v17 of your mod combined with tbc beta19. I removed the file and the 2 lines in the modinfo, launched the game and... still the same. Hope it helps you finding and fixing the bug! :)
 
Antonn and I reported the same problem on the wrong thread. Seems to only happen when TBC 7.0 and CSD are installed together.

Hum, I had the same bug + the fact that when launching a new game, the screen was black instead of the maps & figure...

I desinstalled CSD and it works now.

Mods: Civ Willard, ModList, Great People, Info Info Addict, TBC

Also been getting this bug.
It only happens when using 7.0 & CSD at the same time.
Using 6.9 & CSD work fine. Vanilla, just CSD, & just 7.0 all work fine. But when I try to use 7.0 & CSD the production menu won't open. Also the science research menu & tree breaks - http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/2283/borkedr.jpg
Deleted cache/moduser, also tried renaming & deleting the VanillaBReq.xml in the CSD/Buildings folder that was suggested in the CSD mod, to no avail.
 
Well, its rly not such a big deal now that the fix is in place.
Until Thal finish TBC beta, so that more problems not happen if Gazebo try to fix it, we should just play without FO.

And thats it.

I will Post that fix in new topic, so that ppl can find it more easy :)
