Spyware, by far.

Spyware since spam just wastes space whilst spyware can actually hinder performance...

I don't get spam, and spyware isn't a problem... at least hasn't been so far. :)

spam for me. there's plenty of things you can do to never get spyware (not installing crappy software that has spyware in it being the most effective ;) )

with spam it's different. you can install spam-filters, etc, but some spam will always get through. plus there's the risk of false positives that blocks genuine mail.

For everyone who thinks that they get no spyware, trust me, you do. It's just that you can't see it, it's hiding. In fact, computers come with built in spyware actually, because when I reformatted this harddrive I still caught a few (such as Alexa, that spyware is on every computer, guaranteed)

And spyware almost always leads to computer viruses if left unchecked.

Tell me why then the only spyware I have had is the nCASE, and that was because I was browsing a cracks site? The worst I've gotten are tracking cookies, but those are no problem now that I freqently clear out my cookies.

Most of the spam I get is funneled to the Yahoo Bulk Mail box, so I'm good with spam. I've never gotten any serious spyware before, so spyware isn't much of a pain either.

Probably you didn't update spybot or something, so you never found it. :p

1. I haven't used Spybot for over a year
2. I regularly update my Ad-aware file every time I do a scan.

Spybot does seem to be a little better at finding things but since I used the immunise function it hasn't found anything after I have already ran Adaware.

There you go. If you update spybot you'll find alexa there. Spybot and Adaware go hand-in-hand anyways, it's unwise to use one without the other, because they scan different things.

Pre-installed spyware doesn't count though because people have no control over that. But I have only gotten one piece of spyware by browsing on the Internet.
