That looks awesome, will make for some good Atlantic battes.

Well, I just signed up today after reading this (and several other) threads and decieded that I might just as well help you guys out with this scenario... If you don't mind?

Someone said some posts back that you needed to research nations and their leaders - so I thought i might post the Nato nations as they were in 1988... Here they are:
Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxemburg, (West) Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Turkey, the UK and the US.

I'm not sure about this, however I think Sweden were more "westfriendly" and allowed certain movement in the country from NATO. In the game Sweden (and of course) Finland ought to remain neutral - unless attacked - but might allow NATO open borders. What I'm uncertain of is wether NATO actually had bases in Sweden or not...

During this time Sweden had a rather strong navy-based in the Baltic Sea (just in case Soviet attacked). This should be reflected in the game, in my opinion, such as it should be very hard for the soviet to invade across the sea - but rather through Finland and Sweden so they could occupy Norway.

Another question is wether the Nordic countries ought to have their folkelected leaders or their kings. Denmark, Norway and Sweden were (and are still) monarchies... Just some thoughts... Hope it helped more then it didn't - and please excuse my rather bad and rusty english... :(

Looking around further I managed to locate the Warsaw pact as well: Soviet, Albania (although they apperently left the allience in 1968), Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, DDR (East Germany), Hungary, Poland and Rumania.

Cheers!

I would like to help on this project too, if I may. I had wanted to do something like this but I just don't have the time. I would like to propose to you all though, you could use the map I created for my WWIII scenario if you would like(with modified resource placement I'm sure)

I think it would allow for better interaction of the USSR with USA and Canada then any european focused map could.
But it is a bit large.

I totally agree. the Polar-centric map is much better. If a war had ever broken out between US and USSR (which could not have happened after 1949 when Stalin tests his first nuke) it would have been focused on the polar/alaskan region.

Bravo, Alazkan

I disagree about the polar-centric map. The entire point of the scenario is to accurately portray the Atlantic and European theatres. Maybe its just me, but I think that a map with just the Atlantic and Europe would be the best at that ;)

some more info : Belgium, netherlands and luxemburg are also constitutional monarchy's (spain is also and portugal too (though for portugal im not a 100pct sure). but those last 2 ure not going to use so it doesnt matter

sorry im really busy at the time and havent checked to forum in a while, but I'm still here :)

Sounds like an interesting project there, guys. :) I had an idea of making a mod sort of similar to this a while ago, though it had a different scenario set-up (check my sig for the discussion link). I definitely admire your project, though, and think it would be great if it could be done. :D

By the way, I should point out that, according to Wikipedia:
Characteristics of the World Wars - The two World Wars of the 20th century took place on every continent on Earth save Antarctica, with the bulk of the fighting taking place in Europe and Asia. They involved more combatant nations and more individual combatants than any other conflicts.
So leaving out portions of the world will not make it technically a "World" War mod. ;) But never mind, that's not too important I guess... just thought you'd be interested to know that.

Anyway, have fun, and good luck! :)
