Like many in this forum I was experiencing all kind of inconsistent video behavior with Civ4 from crashes to slowdowns. Tried several driver versions and the Harkonnen patch without success.
I have a 6800 and a 6600GT in an Nforce4 board so I use Ultramon for multi-monitor management. Well it turns out Ultramon was at the bottom of all the problems. Once I shut itdown, Civ4 ran just fine.
