Unable to get the mod to show up in civ4bts

cant seem to get this to install. I have gone so far as to place it in all my civ 4 folders under steam apps.

M:\steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the word\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos
M:\steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos
M:\steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Warlords\Caveman2Cosmos

just in case it was trying to run from one of them. but it still wont show up.

there is no double folder under the mods.
version is 319
I have re-downloaded twice, all three times there were no errors with the rar file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Doesn't Steam have a repeated folder name in the path? IE doesn't it have two Beyond the Sword folders/phrases in the path? eg M:\steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword

You either need to update to the 3.19 you can download from a link on this site OR you have a copy of the mod folder within the mod folder and need to remove one of those caveman2cosmos folders from the tree. Steam tends to do that.

That might be it, weird that there is a mods directory M:\steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\ as well

Yes the way steam set things up is weird and causes some problems because of the length of that full path folder name.

You do also need to "update by hand" to 3.19 of BtS as the auto upgrade just does not work.

"Upgrade by hand" = download the patch from here and run it.
