UNGY5 Let's keep it simple!

Good plan.
I'd whip up some trebs for the mop-up. I'd vote for a complete wipeout--we may have to defy a resolution anyway and we'll avoid culture trouble.

Asoka is backwards and we don't have to hurry too fast to take him.

Yes, complete anihilation is probably better to get more votes.
Do you know how to check when the next election is? It might be worth it to wait and see if we can get elected.

Anyone remember the AP cycle? (Lurkers please chime in!).

I'm thinking its election then 3 resolutions but it might be election then 4.
AP election was in 580 or 16 turns ago. Resolution was in 760--so T+9.
Should be another one in a turn or two.
IF the AP is a 3 res cycle then if we wait around 10 turns to attack we'll just miss the AP res, then the next one will be vote which if we time it right will give us around 15 turns or so before a peace resolution if we lose the next vote.

We could probably attack in less than 10 turns but not much--a few extra turns would not be wasted as we could use some more trebs.
However, I wouldn't delay attacking unless we are sure of the cycle.

With a 3 resolution cycle we are about at #2. By waiting for the 3rd res we'll only lose a couple of turns (not that they're wasted--we can steal tech, build trebs, etc. while Ramesses builds missionaries etc.) and we may dodge the AP thing altogether.
That would be my play.

Sorry chaps. Computer problems. After spending the last week or so being bright pink my civ comp monitor has died on me. Got a replacement on order but it won't arrive until Tuesday.

Lurker comment: LCD monitor? Started with vertical bars, then got worse? Dell? If so, they have a replacement program -- that's a common defect.

whoa, that go for laptops?????
Any information about this would be greatly appreciated (when it started a couple years ago, 3 months after warranty when the screen was less than a year old, Dell basically said "tough luck").

Yes, it does, and yes they *will* try to screw you. For more information on what's affected (at least, what they're admitting is affected and replacing for free):

http://en.community.dell.com/blogs/direct2dell/archive/2007/06/19/17774.aspx

There was a community-created site somewhere with good info, but I can no longer find it. Good luck!

EDIT: I should have known what the community website was: http://dellverticalline.com/ . So if you have vertical lines on your dell screen (laptop or no), go to dellverticalline.com. Duh.

Thanks a lot. Unfortunately mine isn't listed there and I can't go a week without my computer in the near future, but I will give them a call anyway.
Thanks again. And I will never get a Dell again, I had 2 screens, 2 power adapters, 2 keyboards fail in under 18 months (one of each under warranty), and some other things don't work right.

Sorry for diverting the thread.

It sounds like Dell still sucks. I gave up on them after the laptop I got in 2002 has major issues. I am not sure if I even recall all of it, but a partial list I needed was: A new motherboard (when the fixed it they put in defective memory chip!), modem, keyboard, hard drive and CD drive.
I am also in the never again Dell club.

I got this one cause I know someone with an older version, it was working perfectly after two years of heavy use. That computer has had 0 hardware faults to this day, except the battery is shot but that took about 3 years. That said their customer service was always polite and did not hesitate to replace things under warranty. The only complaint about them is this BS I have just learned about screen issues.

Monitor has just arrived. Didn't try to hard to fix old monitor coz I've gone from 15" to 19" in the process. Started to play some turns.

Hmm let's see if we can move this along.
Pigswill can you post up what you've played then either play on after comments or pass it off?
I'm gone this weekend so I'm thinking Dirk is up next--if you can't take it then Rusten should go ahead.

Frightfully sorry chaps. Played one turn. Couldn't get into it at all. Civved out at the moment ::confused: :crazyeye:. Better drop me from the roster .
I apologise   for letting you all down and holding up the game in the process.
