UNGY7 We'll do it by ourself

Nice going bestsss.

Iz may be able to stop the war with the AP again if she gets lucky on timing.

Probably sooner is better re Monte--it's possible we won't face fully upgraded units.

I'd build B'way, and tech radio for those wonders. CR will let us get best use out of civics (and Kremlin), and the ET, bway, r&r will get us 4 happy and also deny them to Boudica. If she's in US she'll have some happy issues w/o them. We'll have happy trouble ourselves w/o them--combustion will lose the whale and we'll get some WW with Monte.

Roster:
Bestsss --just played
Dirk--UP
Snowly
Ungy
Duckweed

Have to finish AW game first. Unfortunately I have been up in both games at the same time every time, don't think i can manage it before this weekend. So if Snow can take it earlier that'd be fine with me.

We lack gold so science to 0 seem ok to me, i finish Galleons now, won't build new ones, we have enough i think. Sail the whole fleet to Monty.Broadway is fine to have, don't these resources give +2 happy with broadcast towers? We have enough production to to build all the wonders along this line. Techwise i went radio clearly the best choice here.

Declare on Monty and land the first stack. Tzintsunzen falls and i decide to keep it, not a good city but with sp every city is worth while.

In the meantime Boudica is researching rr she'll go combustion which is not good for us. Pump up airship production as Monty gets rifles 1690 AD he upgrades some immediately. It's not his rifles but his cavs that i fear though, cuirassiers have a hard time against rifles but pinch promoted cavs are a bit stronger even than rifles and certainly than drafted rifles.I have a feeling we struck a bit too late here maybe, glad to have airships now to soften things up.

Monty has a stack, sort of meaning i have to defend Tlaxala else i would have pushed on to teothuican. 8 rifles should be enough to defend here A bit to my surprise Monty attacks my main stack. I have the edge in this fight but i lose some units in direct fights and 1 or 2 cannons due to flanking, his stack is just gone though.

I wonder why i haven't got a GG yet and find out that we have 2 GG's settled :eek::eek:. I must have missed discussion about this as it's absolutely a mistake imo , at least one of these GG's should have been converted to a healer. Now after taking Tlatelolco i have to heal the stack in 4-5 turns seriously delaying the war. With a healer one turn maybe 2 turns would have been enough. Those 2 extra promos from the settled GG city are nothing compared to this delay.

I land lots of cannons but only 3 rifles near Teotihuacan , some galleons arrive after and i take it in 3 turns. Finally get the third GG and it's on his way to the new world now, we really need that healer there to keep some speed on the attack.

1720 AD, we have 4 Monty cities and his stack is gone, it can't be too difficult from here once we're coordinated from here. Btw, we're at war with Izzy, Boudica asked and i complied. Radio in in some 4 turns and IW will be finished the same turn i think, it won't take too much turns to build CR from there, a huge wonder in this situation. RR will come in handy too.

Monty's stack.

Very well done, Monthy wants to capitulate which means we can walk over him now.

Yeah, I felt it'd be a mistake to go only w/ W3 healer (and m2 musket which is nothing) but there was no input at all and decided to get 7xp cannons, which are still not cr3 but after the rest cr2 they could have been promoted to cr3 (only 1xp needed) and partly healed.
Turned out it was a blunder of mine.

I was afraid of Monthy's attack courage and the withdrawing cuirassiers not to send enough rifles, we had enough cannons but not rifles. It took quite a bit for them to travel to the gathering point. I was thinking to send them a turn or 2 earlier but I had to cut the set for more discussion, so blame it on me again.

There are 2 great people (spy/scientist), we can start another golden age and speed up CR, duckweed wanted to switch back to bureaucracy/OR after the golden age(s). I totally support the OR switch. 2 happy (and less civic cost) is good though. Although the next turn we get some extra happy I think we might be better off in nationhood.

I missed the w3 healer, it's the axe of course and it's in the right place, missed that really otherwise i'd had given him some extra experience. Well i think the difference in healing is only 1 turn then and we got indeed a cr3 cannon and a few close.

It doesn't matter that much, Monty's total toast and there's nothing stopping us from conquering the rest i think. 2 turns doesn't matter that much but i wonder if in hindsight we could have landed some 10-15 turns earlier with a smaller stack, guess not since we were at war with Boudica.

That Monty stack wasn't so big after all. Airships are so powerful, we have 12 in position now, they shoot down all rifles down to 11.6 and then you lose only 1 cannon/city on average. Would be way more without them, its like the ai doesn't have rifles in the first place once you have airships.

I don't now if it has to be next set but i saw that we hardly get any + money at 0% science, i think we need to build some banks and wallstreet in a good position to maximize kremlin benefit. Next tech i'd research would be miltrad, cavs and airships are still a powerful combination and cavs/fighters/bombers will be strong too. We have a lot of production alrady, with Kremlin we can get those banks i mentioned in fast and build an enormous army afterwards.

Tech wise I prefer constitution->corporation, then military tradition if we go that way; that will be a good boost to the economy. I'd not take vassals on the continent.

One extra thing: most likely boudica will vassal poor Izzy. If we can please her, we can 'peacefully' go for spaceship. Dunno if that could be any fun, though.

I'd kill them all from here and indeed no vassals on the continent. Corporation would be nice for the extra route but not spectacular. Cavs are very nice units though even with airships they're not good enough to bust rifles convincingly. They are good enough with fighters/bombers though but that's some techs away so maybe the route to corporation is best. I would try to please Boudica now she already took spanish cities, won't be long before Izz bends.

Snow i think. I don't think this game will take long anymore, it's just a matter of plodding on. I wonder, is there a rule that every SG needs to be played out to the bitter or in this case sweet end? I think we can call it a day after conquering Monty and Willem here. But this may be heresy in SG circles :D.

I think you guys needed a harder map  It looks like the AI really didn't trade much with each other in this game because of semi-isolation or religious strife.

I'm not a big one for playing out to the bitter end.
Why don't we take a poll?--this looks pretty much won to me here.
I'm happy to start another game.

@Shyuhe, this was indeed ridiculously easy. As easy as that game where we were Justinian, had a great capital and couldn't build science buildings. I don't know about any variant on immortal (except AW  some of us know what that plays like).I looked at Rusten's taxman thread, that variant looks tougher than what we did until now but with some early war they seem to be in pretty good position already. Can't judge that one for sure though, not being able to self tech maybe still be hard there. But overall Ais on immortal seem just very slow, this game they hardly teched at all.

Then again variants on deity will get tough very soon. I think that team format from Duckweed will be hell.

>>I think that team format from Duckweed will be hell.
Tried a test game... and Joao switched to Bureaucracy around 1700BC. I don't know they got from huts but that was insane. I hope we dont see some crazy BC lib. date.

All situation can be solved by war, so the only hopeless situation is that you are not capable of winning the war.

I'm not so certain if that applies here. We have limited trading opportunities, trade is enormously important on deity to stay in the techrace. Humans are 1000% better at trading than ais.

And once we are going to war we're fighting 2 deity ais at once instead of one (the situation you mean i guess, "not capable of winning the war"). I'm not saying it's not winnable but this format may indeed put up a serious challenge.
