I just installed Civ Con again, new system. Been playing for years, and only recently have found this site. Cheers.

I searched the archive of bugs and this wasn't on there and the patches I looked at don't cover it.

On a simple screen, say from the start of a game or 5-10 turns in I noticed there's no second row of unit actions. I removed Civ Con completely once to simply play PTW and they returned, icons such as 'go to city' and 'build road to'. I have the lowest row which does minimal stuff like building roads and irrigating, but that's it.

Any suggestions?

Great site!

I've had the original Civ 3 and recently bought CIV3 Complete and the air superiority mission seems to be a major bug in the game.

The A.I. fighters will scramble up and intercept my bombers but my fighters will never scramble up and shoot down theres down when I set them down on a AS mission.

I'd even changed the intercept probability to 100%, I.E. the fighters must challenge anything.

And still, my fighters don't intercept. And that kind of makes America a less usefull civ in the Modern Era. Of course if the A.I. is America their F-15 Eagles will chop anything that you send towards them. Although sending hordes of Russian fighters (Mig 29s really) towards F-15s is fun, I would like to stop the enemy's bombardment of my fighters, while they are on the ground not doing the AS mission they were supposed to.

Also it makes the WWII Pacific Conquest Senario less fun because the Pacific was all about island hoping and air superiority battles.

So the ultimate question- is their any patch or mod or fix that can correct the Air Superiority mission or is this a deep rooted problem that everybody has just written off?

I have never heard of this problem before. Try patching your game, the newest version is 1.22. And are you sure you are pressing 's' to set them on AS?

I actually click on the air superiority icon rather than hit the S key. I don't know if that has anything to do with it but its worth a shot. Anyways, I assumed that the complete edition of CIV would have all the patches in it from the get go.

But I guess I'll have to try the patch. Only thing is I got a dialup connect so the 20+ MB download that is the patch does not look to appealing to me.

In fact, everything else with my game seems fine but the AS. So is there any way to just download a correction for the AS mission? Or is there any way to correct it myself?

Well, I believe I figured it out. When you set an aircraft on air superiority that jet loses its turn. So any bombers that attack will get through. However, if you leave that aircraft alone (i.e. don't, wake/activate bomb or relocate anything) the jet will scramble and attack anything that flies for the next turn.

I didn't realize this. I thought the AS function applied on the term that you are currently on, just like any other function and attack. But it doesn't. AS gives the unit orders for the next turn because the fighter loses its current turn when you press the AS button.

Am I correct?
