Hey, I'm looking at this unit in Flicster, and it's pretty cool! I think I'll finally add Poland to my game.

Why haven't you posted this earlier, you silly man?

Jimmyh? I tried ti figure out why....don't know...

I have had the same problem - the default image is blank. The hussar briefly appears while moving but then disappears again when standing still (all you see is the movement circle when its that unit's turn). Any solutions yet?

Hahahaha ok you posted those pictures and I dont know why. We all know that you had winged horsemen but who cares? Dude I just said that dont use the name 'Hussar' because it isnt polish heh. Second note. I dont think that any peeps cares about polish armies expect you and some US guys with polish origins. Sighs. If there is a polish army in the game like the winged horsemen its totally ok. I dont care if I see a polish army type in a game or not. I never cared about 'nations' like yours hehe.
Polish history is nothing compared to some European countries'.

Third note. US guys........ I posted that the major part of the Europeans dont like the Slavs...... right? Just let you know US people that I saw some public opinion polls from the US, that 'What foreign nation you dislike?' The question was something else but it was almost like this. So guess which nation was the 'winner' as the poll? The most disliked nation was Poland in the US! Now guess whats going on in Germany or in other European nations.. This isnt for Poland only, the majority of the people dont like the Slavs at all not just the Polish people. Again this isnt Racism from me, its a FACT.

Funny that people from the US posting in an 'EU' topic heh.

RE: "The most disliked nation was Poland in the US!"

I don't imagine you could post your source?

As a US resident, I can assure you that Poland and Slavic Europe is, for better or worse, the furthest thing from the mind of the common man. This study sounds like wishful thinking from a very sad group of people.

I have to say this:

1) The origin of the "Hussaren" was Hungary, but in fact every Light Cavalry of Easter-Europe states were like them.

2) Hungarians are NOT Slavics! They are of differenet kind. They are more related to the people of Finnland.
They came out of inner Asia, like the Huns for example.

3) The polnish light Cavalry was also named "Ulanen"

4) I'm Austrian and I have to say this:
- Most slavics don't like the Austrians, but i don't know why!
- Most Austrian don't have anyting against slavics!

I like the slavs, and I'm proud to say that Austria-Hungary was a state that included "German" - Austrians as well as hungarians and "Slavic" Tchechs, Slovacs, Polnish, Romanians, Slovenians, Croatians, Bosnians ... I hope I didn't forget some...
BTW: I'm not sure if the Romanians are slavic - I only know that their language is not slavic but of latin kind like french or italian.

RE: "Most slavics don't like the Austrians, but i don't know why!"

Well, as a 3d generation American, I'm kinda like a "slav-lite", so I don't know that I can speak for them. But, if Slavs don't like Austrians, it could be due to the fact that Austria-Hungary (and later, the Nazis) partitioned and held sway over large numbers of slavic principalities somewhat against their will.

Of course, this is ancient history, and holds little to no sway, here, in the new world. But I understand memories to be a bit longer, over there.

1. Of course I know that Hungarians are not a Slav nation. Who said that they are? I said that Poland is a Slav nation. Sighs...
My wife is from Hungary btw. Yes Hungarians are related to the finns and someone saying that they have some real Hun blood too, but its just speculation, noone knows that.

Second.
I dont know the source of the poll, it was in a German Newspaper.
Maybe I could find it on the net, but I wont waste my time. Do a search if you want, Im sure you will find polls like that.
You want me to make a poll here in Munchen that who likes the Slav nations like Poland? I guess you know how the people feels about them here.....and in other places. [Lot of places trust me]

Third.
Wyrmshadow......Stop posting those images because its ridicolous now. We all know about your winged horsemen. LOL [However who cares]
Also dont dare to call me little man, you are not worth for that.
Guess you are some polish immigrant living in the US right? I bet...heh
I know that you are trying to defend your 'nation' but these pictures wont help you trust me hehe.

wrymshadow: keep the pics coming for two reasons. 1) they are pretty cool and inspiring and 2) they seem to mortify Mortifier.

Hmmm... so a German Newspaper ran a poll on what country Americans dislike most and and it was Poland, huh. And you refuse to punblish this source so we have to take you for your word or go look to see if you are right.

To me, if someone claims something as true, it is us to that person to provide verification.

Back to the topic of the HUSSAR. I love having this as the UU unit for my POLAND Civilization and I do not care one bit if the word is Hungarian or derived froma Hungarian word. Most of the words used today are derived from other languages anyway.

Mortifer:

I see that you've amassed 5 posts here at CivFanatics, each with the singular characteristic of being troll bait. While I, for one, enjoy the cultural debate that comes from so many different viewpoints coming together, I'm not sure what you're bringing to the table.

I think you may have been taking too much council from people with whom you already agree, as some of the opinions you present as being nearly universal seem pretty "lunatic-fringe", IMHO. In any case, assuming you want the same thing from this forum as the rest of us (education and comradarie), you might be well served to take a less confrontational approach. I suspect that some of your countrymen would be a little embarrassed at how you are painting the gestalt of the German people.

However, I must admit that you have educated me in at least one sense. I thought that opinions such as those you espouse were a thing of ancient history. I had hoped to maintain that misconception.

Oh my god!

Why that violence here!? Flame wars should be battled elsewhere!

BTW: I didn't want to critisice here, just bringing some info

"Hussar" has it'S origin in Latin, I will research what word... and later the hungarians pronounced it in a way, so that it sounded like "Husar".

I use the one from the Poland Mod, which is the link you posted. I could be mistaken as I am Polish and only 99% right all the time:D Just kidding, do not want to start any more trouble than is already in this thread.

I may download this unit later and compare the two to see which looks a little better on my system. Maybe I'll use them both and call one the Ulan and have 2 UU for Poland:cool:

Oh I get it... Hey folks I think we've got Ol'Mortie all wrong, he's just trying to float a new unit idea out for our consumption... The Xenophobe! We will have to help him with the unit stats though he seems a bit confused...

Also... Of course we in the US have an opinion, we're American's! We have an opinion on everything! It comes with the birth certificate! :crazyeye:

So how are you(pl) looking at using this unit? I'm using it as a Polish UU, replacing the Knight, with a +1 offense. That's technologically about right for the sword unit in the first post, but not quite culturally accurate. The lancer in Wyrmshadow's post actually existed somewhere between a knight and a cavalry unit so, while culturally correct for a Polish civ, it doesn't have a place as a clean regular unit replacement.

Any other ideas?

Hey great looking images! And though, ahhh shall we politley say- diluted by another, has been VERY informative! I have always been fascinated by the Winged Hussar units and am pleased to add them to my scenario. Where do the images come from (book title)? Thanks for the info... Go Aggies! :goodjob:
