Unit: Polaris submarine

Its my first try on a unit. It was basicly going to just be a polaris rocket (a smart rocket lunched from underwater), but I couldnt find a way to make it visible when not attacking (it couldnt just float in the water), so I used the normal sub flics so the point is that it is a sub with a "remote" wich controls polaris rockets..

It should have very high attack power.

BTW: dont know how to post a flic file so If someone who downloads it could do that it would be great..

Ive experimented with this a little while ago, its a good idea, but try making a multi unit combining the nuclear sub and the missile attack. If both the units are properly centred it looks realy good. (I'm afraid I lost the one I made a little while ago).

I mucked up the pallete on the first image somehow, Dunno how.

Any way, its just something I knocked up. I think you would need to make the missiles smaller, and extend how high they fly, or use a bigger Nuclear sub; Akula has done some exelent ones.

Another option would be to make the standard sub bigger.

Thats a good unit there but that was not my idea....
A polaris rocket is a rocket wich is lucnched from underwater. Its Imobile and the only reason I included the sub is because I wanted the rocket to be seable while not attacking and since its under water (actually under the seafloor ) I had to have something to show where it is...

Oh I see, I thought the polaris was fired from inside the body of the nuclear sub, I guess that would be stupid. where would all the exaust gasses go etc...

Well tech. wise the Polaris Missile was 1 of the first Sub. carried missiles made and was fired from the insides of the subs like in SM's preview. so u wouldn't see it until it was fired anyways even in a game.

Actually the missile's rocket booster doesn't engage till after the missile clears the water. There's some sort of reaction (can't remember exactly what) which causes a tremendous increase in pressure inside the sub, and propells the missile out of the water first. I don't think any missle was actually ignited while still inside the body of the sub, or if so those subs probably didn't survive the first launch!
