Unit Preview: Uruk Hai Berserker

The first of at least 3 planned Uruk Hai (orcs) units from the LoTRs. The other two will be a normal armored Uruk Hai, like those that hunted the Fellowship down in the first movie. And a Hyena rider from the second movie.
I also plan on making a simple comversion of the normal Uruk Hai... Changing the white hand symbol into a red eye for a Mordor Orc.

I think I'll make the white hands civ-specific, unless everyone has strong objections and can offer an easy alternative.

well, in a scenario Isengard would be white anyways, right? you should probably make the hand prints civ specific. btw, it looks like saruman was playing with his boobies...

mordor has the small regular orcs, right? like my leaderhead? you should get that model for mordor orcs.

I actually already have a smaller (insert puny muscles) version made up for the other orcs... just haven't worked up the clothing yet.

Looks awesome! And the other ones that you've got in the works sound great as well.

One question - Why is the sword so wavy? Is it like a kophesh? Looks good anyway - probably will make for a devastating attack flc.

Yeah, I was going to comment on the sword. It's a lil too long and deffinetly too wavy. Thought they (uruk hais) were also a lil darker. Other then that...just add hair and this thing'll be uber-sweet

The sword may be a tad too long but the berserker's swords from the second movie (which is what I'm basing this on) is curved like that... And he's wearing a helmet, may be a little hard to see there, I'll try to lighten it or something. so I don't think I'll be adding any hair. I may add some more to the skin texture... Dirt and blood and such which should darken it up a bit.

wow!!! great job, but in the movie the berserker "swoards" wernt bent-at least the game,miniatuers(made by games workshop), and all the pictures that i have seen of them portray them as straight....just thought you might like to know, so the unit can be the best it possibly can

About the sword; take as much creative license as you want, this is after all a mod/unit for a book, not a film. One idea is to give him a one hand sword and a shield, in the "heavy infantry" tradition, but you're the god in this case. I really like the white hands.

hmmmm, while what mrtn said is true, I think that most will agree that being true to th film is the best way to go-that being said i think it might be obvious which is probabley the Tolkin enthusiast here.....

You know what... While looking for pictures as reference for the sword model I was have a really hard time of it. I could find very few images of urukhai and none of the berserker. I finally tracked down one at a store selling small figures... This picture unfortunately was small and seems to have had a bent blade. I didn't know this at the time, and when people started posting here I went searching for another image. I finally found one from the movie... it's small... it's grainy... but the sword clearly isn't bent... So basicly Mea Culpa and all that. I'll fix it up soon. Also I will be doing the sword/shield combo with the normal Uruk Hai soldier... I've already modeled those I'm just having difficulty doing the helmet.

not much... I've been busy but I've started animating.

I've just begun animation work on the Berserker and I finished up the model for the UrukHai Warrior... I was thinking I'd release these three all at once and then work on the Worg (it looks like a hyena to me) rider.

It shouldn't add too much time to the release date since the third on is just a minor conversion.

Anyway here's a preview of the Uruk Hai Warrior... Once again the white hand on the shield and white crest will be civ-colored (unless there are lots of complaints).
