unit promotions broken

hi all,

around 250 turns into procylon mod on standard map with 13 civs:

unit promotion buttons do everything but work! when a unit is up for promotion the promote popup appears but when i click any promotion nothing happens -- the promotion does not register and the pop-up remains.

played a few more turns and have about 10 units(of varied experience) wanting promotion but none can promote.

after trying a new game with no mods the problem remained. then, after looking through .ini files and such I still could not find a viable reason for this sudden change so I decided to delete ciV from steam and re-download and install. afterwords i try a new game(no mods) and problem still persists?

Anyone have a similar problem? Any advice would be much appreciated!

i uninstalled the game from steam(again) and this time i manually deleted all files related to civ5 from my computer. then reboot and re-download/install. start up a game and now have a usable promotions popup again.

have no idea why the problem occurred, but to anyone who may experience a similar problem -- save yourself the grief of trying to figure it out and just wipe the drive of all remnants of ciV and start over.

if you've encountered this problem then you've done the following:

in config.ini i changed:

; Set to 1 to disable Audio system
Audio = 0

to:

; Set to 1 to disable Audio system
Audio = 1

------ thats it!!!????? why?????

BTW, i changed that because the damn game make my speakers buzzzzzzzz anytime i start the game -- suffice it to say i've never heard any of the leaders speak!

Thank you very much for posting the solution. I had exactly the same problem and had no idea what would fix it.
