Unit request: Bedouin Desert Raider

That might be far from your expectations but here is a basis I have come to.
If you like it like that, I will redo and do it completely and with better care than for this test.

The picture was to show it in-game and to show its size by comparison to a large horse unit. Camels are actually bigger...

Obviously I did that with cut & paste but from very different units so it is not a piece of cake, especially for me.
I guess it could be used both civ-specific palette (picture previous post) and with a black and blue touareg cloth for UU (such as below)

Here is a animated gif:

EDIT : LET ME FINISH POSTING KAL EL ;)
RE EDIT : it was not supposed to appear white and dark blue
I guess I still have to practice a little before really doing these units.

nice Lou, cut´n´pasting are a bit difficult in the start, but it gets easier;)

Looks good, but in one of the direction he got another "headgear" than in the other...

suppose you allready know this, but there are units out there that has this "error" - like in one frame theres a gun, and in the next there is not etc...

Looks good as I said, will you do sounds aswell? How do a camel sounds anyway... Like a horse?

aha... well then it's ok, it goes to fast also, so it's hard to see that it is the camels head...

Actually you are right.

I was just practising so the copy/paste was a bit quick so I forgot to erase that head which does not fit with the smaller camel I used.

BTW question for all and Kal-El especially: is the size OK (in-game preview) ? I don't really know how to resize but might learn.

When I am finished practising I will do a bunch of units all at a time so it might take a while but I finish what I begin (well, except major pbs) just cannot tell when yet...

I think the size is fine. Compared to Kinboat's Crusader he is about right. Compared to the Firaxis Knight he is big, but then again the Knight is smaller than most of the other mounted units so, I say leave him as is, and if someone wants to make him smaller using the SBB then let them. I will take him like this. :)

i can do Arab Cavalry in a few days, see the turkish cavalry thread for a Arab guy on a horse.

cool! then we will have two more middle eastern flavor units than we had before!

it will be a static unit, but that is fine, right?

Just to keep you informed !

+ : two FLCs completely done
(edit : might need some palette retouch though)

- : two more to do and they are the tough ones (death and run).

Ukas, that'd be nice if you could create special sounds for it.
Do you need any file to synchronize it (especially attack) ? If so I can send it to you right now.

OK, three done, one to go.
Here are previews of the Default, Attack and Run but they exist as Civ3 FLCs already.
It is probably a bit jumpy, the question is whether it is still OK or really too jumpy (I have already simplified a bit the action for the attack to make it less jumpy but I have left one for you to compare).

I must say death will be long and painful because the units I am using do not fall on the same side. :crazyeye:

Anyway please judge (not too harshly) these previews.

Default

Run (actually this one should be a little jumpy, everybody who's been seasick on top of a camel like I have will agree, just I am not sure whether it is the correct "jump" ;) )

Edit : 800 !
