Unit request: Bedouin Desert Raider

are you suggesting that the Cavalry unit's rifle be affixed to the AOK "Mameluke"? Or the entire Mameluke rider be affixed to a horse?

One thing I'd point out - if your hope is to retain the camel - is that the animal in that FLC is a Bactrian, not a Dromedary.

And if your hope is to have a sword-wielding unit atop a camel, I'd also point out that that niche is filled by the Ansar Warrior (a medieval mounted Arab unit), even though the camel is not in the animation, they attacked more by horse after crossing land with horse and/or camel.

Personally, I'd really like to see an 18th-20th century Bedouin rifleman on camelback, which I think is also what you are suggesting.

A dream unit would be one in which the resting camel (default) is mounted/dismounted for the run and attack animations. That won't happen.

good point about the bachtrian. I didn't even notice that. Obviously it should be a dromedary. :)

There are already plenty of sword wielding camel units taken from AoK.

I am looking for something to replace the cavalry for the Middle Eastern Civs.
 
I'd be happy with the Ansar Warrior armed with a rifle.
 
I'm going to take a stab at it,:) I think I can do it but I don't know.
the 'camel' unit from AOK is different from the marmaluke and it looks like the point of contact with the man and camel is almost identical to the contact of a horse. So in theory, it will be very easy to do. Just have to fix the shadows of the camel. I'll check it out;)
 
Very cool.

That AoK camel unit is pretty good, but I hate those crappy shadows. And that unit does look a bit oversized in the game (moreso than the mameluke for some reason).

But, again, very cool.
 
This is the first frame of the run flc.
I'm trying to see what look would be possible.
and.........I think I found a easy way to fix those shadows.

can you tell I slung the gun over his back? and I think I have the program to extract thr AOK units too, I'm about to check it out.
 
ok this is the first test to see how he'll animate. 3 of the 10 frames are missing so it's going to run smoother when he's done.
If this is ok and no one has any suggestions then I'll go with it like this :)

I'm pausing production on this for awhile :( sorry. but with the baby I have to stop and start, stop and start:crazyeye: a little frustrating. I would really like to play with him thogh, he looks cool. but I'm going to be forever with it:rolleyes: anyone else that could do it?:) and sorry again.....I feel bad that I can't finnish it :( after I gave a preview and everything.
 
Kal-el you´ve done unit making before, and it just needs some cut´n´pasting.
