Unit Request: Israeli Macabee

thoughts-

1)I woukd assume the colours blue in various tones, silver, gold, and white are all important

2)as far as the sheild emblem goes, perhaps one of the 12 tribes of israle symbols, or a star fo david would show up better

I would say the best color to use for the menorah would be gold, as it is representative of the menorah used in the Temple.
For the background of the shield, I would suggest using a dark metallic color contrasting with the gold menorah.

one note though- IIRC, the talit is only used when going to temple (synagogue), but then is is coming from friend of mine who saw the picture whom is a practioner of reform judaism- I would assume that a member of the orthidox following would have a better idea though
This issue has been brought up. My understanding is that although it is general practice nowadays for Jews to only wear their tallit during prayer, back then it was common to wear them all the time, even during battle. Also, back then it was larger and worn as a cloak. If you actually look at the mitzvah (commandment) regarding the wearing of the tzizit (fringes), which are attached to the tallit, there is no specific timeframe given for wearing them.
(Numbers 15:37) if you want to check up on me ;)

The gold menorah won't be hard since that's the color it started out as :)

I think I'll use a dark blue for the background color of the shield.

This also means I need to find another area for civ-color... :hmm:

What about his clothes (around the breastplate)?

Tis a possibility. There's also a very thin civ-colored line at the bottom of the tunic. Almost impossible to see if you didn't already know it was there... I think I'll just thicken that until it's plainly visible as well.

I would also like to say thank you to Kinboat who provided me with a sling. I made a sling myself (my first prop made from scratch), but then I decided it'd be better to go with something of professional quality.

Thank you, sir! :D

Ok, folks... I need your help. I have him throwing the stone from the sling and then when he drops his hand, the left tether of the string is hanging. So how should I have him recover both tethers in his hand in 5 frames or less? Or should I have more than 15 frames?

Hmmm.... Maybe you could have him recover it with a flick of the wrist.
I think that's how the Incan Slinger is set up.

Yeah, he releases, snaps it back into his opposite hand and then (very quickly) hands it off back to the throwing hand...

But he also gets up a good swing and then throws it underhand... Currently, I simply have the unit throwing it in a similar motion to throwing a baseball only he brings the arm up a little higher.

Oi. You got me then. I'm not quite sure how he could recover it.

Telepathy?

How funny does it look if you just make it snap back into his hand while he pulls his hand back?

Welp, here's a sample of how the animation looks right now... you guys mull over it, give me some feedback, in the meantime, I'm going to work on some other stuff.

The Minorah Doesn't Show up to well. And Sicne that Cyan color is what I have for Israel, Maybe you should daarken it? I dunno. Otherwise, looks Top Quality! He will have a sword attack though, right? He has to. :/

I prefer the stone-throwing attack, though you are right about the Minorah not showing up quite as much as it could :) .

And this is considerably larger than civ-scale too... well, I posted this to deal with the motions, not the other details.

But as for the menorah, what can I do? I've made it so large that it goes from one tip of the shield to the other... and no matter what color I make it, that's the most it'll show up.

I use a menorah with only three holders on either side. I've seen those two... but is it really a menorah then?

EDIT: And yes, it will have a sword attack and a bow attack as well. And it doesn't matter what color you have for Israel. It will show up.

I agree with Goldflash and R8XFT about the Menorah.

@Goldflash
The sword attack is Attack B.

@Dom Pedro
The animations look great! I would leave them as-is.
As for the menorah issue, it's not the size that's the problem.
Maybe, just maybe, you could darken the shield a little, while making the menorah brighter... just a thought...
And yes it is a menorah. You're probably thinking about a Chanukiyah.

Believe me, I've tried different shades... greater contrasts between the menorah and the shield, and it's just not going to work like this. Because what you're looking at now is like 150% bigger than what the actual unit will be... at least. The candlesticks become about a pixel thick, and it doesn't really matter how much constrasting I do. It's still going to be really difficult to tell what it is.

Btw, I could not have screwed up that sentence anymore before. What I meant to say was "I could use a menorah with only three holders on each side. I saw those too."
