Although it might be confusing at first, you can "mix-and-match" graphics -- use 1/2-track graphics for move and "fidget" and approporiate infantry graphics for combat. Just give the requisite flics the same unit name. It won't give you infantry dis- and remounting, mais c'est la guerre.

I use this in the late 19th century for observation balloons: fidget etc. is the balloon; movement is a horse-drawn wagon which of course reverts to balloon upon cessation of movement.

Hope this helps,

I everybody.

With some friends, we're currently working on a new mode for the ancient era.

And now we lack some naval units for more realistics conflicts and battles.
I knows a War Galley and a coracle have already being done but, that's apparently all.

So if some of us are interested in modeling some units... :D

Here are the requests :

1) Phoenician Bireme.
"First mentioned in 8th century BC, this vessel was rowed on two levels by about 52 oarsmen"
Here's the picture:

Oars seems to be protected by an cover...

2) Roman Octeres.
"This type of vessel was used as a warship mainly up to the Battle of Actium in 31BC. Powered by two banks of oars per side with four men to each oar"
Here's the picture:

3) Siege Quinquereme.
"Two vessels lashed together to support a tower which would be armed with one or more catapults"
Here's the picture:

and finally
4) Egyptian War Galey.
This type of ship fought the roman navy in the battle of Actium 31BC, and suffer defeat.
There where formidable combat ship with the best power for this time, but much too heavy to face the roman Octeres.
So I suppose just take the roman Octeres and make it a bit more massive.

So that all for the moment :egypt:

Hope someone will do them ;)

If questions --> Contact me. THX everybody (best to the 3d designer here !)

There are also a few variants of the galley, including one spewing Greek fire, and a quinquereme (forigive the pun) floating around.

Be skeptical of terminology -- "trireme" etc. might refer to different numbers of men pulling different numbers of oars - the number refers to the number of men per BANK of oars, so an Octares might be four men pulling two oars each or eight men split unequally among three oars.

For example, my sources for Actium show Octavian as commanding "Liburnian Biremes", "Cataphracted (armored) Triremes", "Quadriremes" and "Quiqueremes"; Antony's fleet consisted of Quadriremes, Quiqueremes, Sexteres, Heptares, one Octares and one Decares.

Happy Modding,

Oz

ozymandias,

I dont want to make the look 100% real.

But I want reflect the fact that Galley used by Roman in the battle of Actium in 31BC where much more powerfull that the ones they used in the war against Carthage in ~220BC. And they better look a bit different for improved realism.

The -220BC Roman galley should be upgradable to the -31BC Roman galley. This will uniques units for the Roman nation.

That why I'm already in need of the units I've requested, but good point to note anway Oz thx.

Ah, but the principal differences would show in potentially very cool Flics.

First, against the Carthaginians, the Romans developed the Corvus (the crow), essentially a spiked boarding plank which locked to ships together and let Roman soldiery do the in-fighting.

Second, by Actium (before; I can check the dates) the Romans also devised the Harpax, essentially a giant-crossbow fired harpoon designed to likewise entangle the ships for the real business of ancient naval warfare ... hand-to-hand combat ...

... Ya know, I LIKE that smiley ...

Can somone make a diver? or perhaps a munit, a diver team??

Can somone make a monk, a missionary and\or a hindu\buddhist monk??

I request skeletons. I'm sure that you would agree that they would look pretty cool. You could have skeleton warriors and archers. A must have for fantasy mods (Balrogs :) )

Edit: opps double post.

Another fantasy unit, a err.....hmm.... basically something that looks like my avatar. Again, good for fantasy mods and could be used for the Ents in a lotr mod. Oh and it would look really cool if someone could make it.

An Ent has been on my to do list for a while now... But it's rather far down.

I thought about that too. It would be great to have divers.
They could have a very low attack (like just 1) because they're only humans, but be able to "bombard" 1 scare away to simulate a sabotage. Of course, they would be invisible.

I'm affraid to imagine how the AI would use it. I think it would never produce it (because of the attack stat).

I'd like to request a couple of Multi-figure units.

I know Kryten is in the process of making several Pike & Musket and Pike & Bow formations, but I'd like to request a couple of such formations for the Ancient Age:

*a Spearman & Bow formation.

*a Phalanx & Bow formation. (using one of Kryten's hoplite units)

Thus, I'd be able to have a combined arms formation in the Ancient Age that could upgrade to the Pike & Bow formation in the Middle Ages, which would upgrade to Musket & Pike formation, which would then upgrade to Musket Infantry (Minuteman animation).

Thanks in advance.

I don't know if this has been requested yet?

I was hoping someone could use the current sipahi or use some original flics to make a dragoon unit. I really miss the civ 2 unit.

I wanna see a multi-unit of midgets. lots of em. when they attack they could surrond the enemy and bite at them with hungry looksin thier eyes-until the enemy unit is blind and the midgets devour them!! hahaha!!! horrible, horrible midgets!!!

Hello! First off, I just want to say this site and you guys on it kick some major ass! The units I've downloaded already are exquisite!

My request is for some civ-specific priest (for lack of a better term) units. While putting in flavor units I picked up, I got the idea of adding a new unit for each civ which is basically a guy with these stats: 0 attack, 2 defend, 1 move (foot), 2 bombard, 1 range, etc. ... kind of like a moving artillery unit that comes about with Theology. The premise is that it's a religious unit that's harnassed the forces of god, nature, etc. to have bombard attacks.

So far I used the Aztec Monk for the Aztecs, Teutonic Knight for the Germans and the Fanatic (I renamed to Freemason) for the Brits.

So, I was looking for units like a Buddhist monk, Shinto priest, wandering mendicant, American shaman, Priest of Set ... you get the picture.

Again You guys rule big-time, keep up the great work!

Can anyone make a terrorist with AK47?

I'de like something generic that doesn't look like it's associated with a particular nation.

Or maybe it's already been done? ???
