So, I was looking for units like a Buddhist monk, Shinto priest, wandering mendicant, American shaman, Priest of Set ... you get the picture.

Priest of Set eh well i think with some religions would have many different priest in which case it could just be an Egyptian priest

I have two requests. These would be ideal for a Cold War mod, but also look funky and that's a good enough reason as any ;)

RAF Vulcan B1/B2(A~K) (Tactical bomber) - Looks a bit like a Concorde

This made up a significant part of the RAF nuclear deterrent during the cold war and became a symbol of power. It was Britain's last medium/large bomber. Used during the Falklands war from an airbase in Africa! Despite achieving it's military objectives in that war, it's greatest contribution may have been delivery of the psychological message "You are not out of range!". In a show of acrobatics during that same war, one outmaneuvred two Brazillian interceptors (a story in itself). First thumbnail shows a Vulcan participating with the Red Arrows acrobatic display team.

RAF/RN Buccaneer (Subsonic attack fighter) - Has a big bum

Originally constituted part of the naval surface attack wing designed to neutralise the threat of the large Soviet fleet. Following a reduction in the number of RN carriers, these fighters were transferred to the RAF for ground attack. They were deployed in NATO excercises and bypassed defences by flying under the radar band (similar to Tornado) and then managed to neutralise USAF interceptors. Never fired a shot in anger but they were brought out of retirement for Desert Storm and used in the laser designation role because they could absorb huge amounts of damage from small arms fire at low altitude. Renowned for it's tough construction.

RAF Lightning (Supersonic air-superiority fighter) - Concept considered impractical

Oops... a third. I wasn't going to mention this one but it also fits the Cold War theme so I'm adding it in the interest of completion. Looks a little like a MiG-21 but chubbier and has two engines mounted vertically, plus funky wings. Very high maintenance costs. This was the first fighter aircraft to exceed Mach 1.0 without igniting afterburners which some call supercruise. It may have been the fastest of it's era but a few Soviet fighters were unknown until after the Cold War so a lot of NATO assumptions were incorrect. British government intentionally thwarted export sales to stop it falling into the hands of rivals (i.e. Luftwaffe) thereby preventing it from being a commercial success and killing related hypersonic projects.

Britain developed many other aircraft during the Cold War, some of which were more succesful or more radical but the ones mentioned above are rarer and therefore more interesting IMHO.

Its probably been suggested before, but i think that a navy seal team could be a cool unit.

other ideas

an MLRS rocket launcher
Patriot, Arrow and Hawk missiles
some anti aircraft units like Chaparel missles, Volcan and stingers.

I thought of a nice flavour unit - Military Police. not really usefull at combat but could be nice addition:)

First, I've had a lot of fun lately spicing up my game with units from the unit library. A big 'Thanks' to all of you who've posted units here! But there are still some areas in which units are lacking.

Here are a couple that really stand out.

Mounted native american units: replacements for the knight, calvary. The horse archer is ok but looks more eastern than native american.

Cruisers and BattleCruisers: there's one or two cruisers out there, and no battlecruisers that I can see. Pickings are still pretty slim as far as naval units in general go. Anyone done HMS Hood yet? I'd really like that one!

I've seen many units from AoK and AoM. I'd specifically like to have the relic monkey from Age of Mythology made into a unit. Maybe other animals, too, but we gotta have the monkey.

I haven't seen many marine units around. What I have in mind are late middle ages and early industrial marine units. Years ago I made these two civ2 units, if someone could make these kind of units I'd be truly grateful - I think people generally would like to have these.

Ukas

I'll attach enlarged pic of them:

Jimmyh might do, he has converted units from AOE and AOE 2, and as far as i know the difference is not that large

This is an "easy" request I have: assault/combat engineer unit

In PTW extras folder WWII and probably elsewhere too there are these bazooka and flamethrower units - I don't exactly know how to involve them in the game separately but together they would make a powerful assault/combat engineer unit.

So, pretty please!:D

Some units I would like to see:

1. Futuristic water worker to add mines and kelp farming to coastal squares (Yes this can be done - I can do it using existing boat graphics.)

2. Grenadier

3. Macemen

4. Pitchforkmen (Early residents defending their home)

5. Navy SEALS / other special forces

6. Sniper - should have very low attack and defense, with bombardment capabilities, sight and speed of 2.

7. Pteradactyl - An air unit for those dino mods that really need to be made.

8. Plesiosaur - An aquatic version of the above.

9. Godzilla - a king unit of the above.

10. Boiling oil - A bombardment unit for those Castle mods that also need to be made. :king:

I am sure I can think of more, but those crucial. Especially the Dino ones.

Hi all, I'm a noob. My apologies if this unit exists somewhere, but I've looked all over the site and found nix.

I'd like to see a Samurai unit riding a horse. That way I don't have to have a guy on foot running 2 spaces per turn.

't would be funky if he could fight with a bow and a sword, but how on earth could that be implemented -- unless the game could support a unit with both bombard (missile attack) and melee animations?

Get PTW, there's a whole bunch of medieval Japanese units.

Samurais might have gone as fast on foot as many other units on horseback - of course not in battlefield but those boys sure marched fast compared to lazy europeans at the time.

I was thinking this earlier today, esp the Industrial age one. I know there's the one with the striped shirt and what looks like a Tommy Gun, but I'd rather something more late 19th cent, in the type of uniform Ukas posted.

Also, while everyone's requesting early industrial mounted units, I'll go ahead and request a late 19th century British cavalry. here's a pic:

I wasn't aware Samurais moved as quickly on foot as European knights did on horseback. Nor was I aware that PTW had mounted Samurai units. My apologies.

Samurai did travel and fight on horseback, though, didn't they? I'm trying to remember watching Ran and Heaven and Earth...

True, without doubt they rather used horses. The way how vanilla civ3 portrays samurais (its a wide concept) is silly I know- after all they were often expert horsemen.

Years ago I read a lot about medieval Japan but remember the name of one fictional book, 'Musashi'. There the characters walk and run all the time criss-cross japan.

Doesn't 'samurai' actually mean 'mounted warrior'?, and weren't the original samurai so-called barbarians from the outer provinces?
