Unit Requests-Lord of the Ring Units

Hmmmmm, Praise... How about this for an Elvish Infantry... I still think the helmet needs work but I've stayed up far to late already working on this version... Don't know how it looks small yet. If you really need the gold toned armor I supposed I could swing a change.

is it possible to quickly do versions armed with other weapons after this one is finished? (like spear+shield varation and axe for dark elf inf.)

what's the problem? does unit inspired by LOTR have to be for LOTR only? why not use it in any fantasy scenario? if it can be dark elf, why not?

the problem is that THERE ARE NO DARKELVES IN LOTR.

the whole elven army? in LOTR there is no elven army for most elves returned to Valinor. and when there was an elven army it was indee a longbows only army.

but then it should not be called Lord of the Rings , my concern is that if thing are completely different from the books , stupid people are goin to think they were in the books thus changing the perception of what the Lord of the Rings is , and thus robbing it of its Magic , but hey it might aready be lost due to those 'Movies'.

i've read lord of the rings and there's not much detail at all. no facial features for any of it's characters, or anything. i don't recall seing photographs in it either.

what edition you've read? one of the things that tolkien did best was the description of things (characters , locations etc) , the only thing he did better was the creation of Languages....

Kinboat thats great, but i would prefer the gold toned though. And this is Highelv infantry, not Dark elv infantry so sh*t *p about that.

The problem is, you did not ever read my post before answering it
Again: If someone posts a unit inspired by LOTR, why can't we use it in *any* fantasy scenario? Above elven unit fits any Middle Earth/Warhammer/AD&D/whatever mod. Why a variation of above can't be a dark elf for another scenario/mod, where dark elves are present?

I thought this it's all about a MOD not particular scenario... about units for the world Tolkien created, not units for one scenario based on one of his books. If you want to give elves just one type of unit, then it's pointless to have such civ at all.

Also, I don't want to quote your own sig, but Tolkien is not just LOTR If it is a mod, with all races of his mythology, why not give them full coverage?

that's why my orc leaderhead was the way it was. it can be used in stuff other then LOTR. not much complaints about it here at CFC, but they're reaming my ass out at Apolyton. that's ok because i only post my stuff there and don't even reply to whatever they have to say. i hate that site.

that is also one reason why i'm not trying hard to make sauron like he was in the movie and paintings. he can be used for much more. also, if somebody doesn't like that i'm making legolas instead of galedriel then use the queen elizabeth that comes with the game.

critisism is always needed whether it's good or bad, but as a creator myself, it sucks when somebody gets anal about things they are obsessed about. it actually turns me away from the project and i don't want to deal with it anymore. lighten up. it's just a story, and it's just a game.

most people don't even know what a dark elf is. i don't know what a dark elf is! and i don't care! that looks close enough to a highelf to me.

What's the matter? Do you see a problem if more than one such unit is created in the process, with different weaponry? Of course it's up to Kinboat, but if he made excellent model that perfectly represents both high elves of middle earth AND high elves of ulthuan AND dark elves of naggaroth, why not use it?

Looks good Kinboat. Maybe you should try to exagerate the ears? If they are bigger and lighter, maybe they will show up better in the end? It doesn't look exactly like in the film, but that is just good, shows that your creative synapses work just fine

Where exactly do you get this from? I dont remember any passage in the Silmarils stating the Elven army only used bows and nothing else, indeed the idea would be ridiculous, no army could fight with bows alone. Oh and what about the famed Elvish weapons that pop up throughout Tolkiens tales? The elves made swords for everyone else but didnt use them themselves?

Oh for crying out loud... First off, except for color and the helmet which I mentioned... I think it looks reasonably like the Elvish army featured in the beginning of the movie (which I happened to like even though I'm an avid reader of Tolkiens books)... and the shoulder guards also are different Second, there's no need to blast someone for suggesting variations that may not fit 'your' (and this goes for everyone) view of the books or whatever... That said I am going to try a gold toned armor version and see what I come up with... I'm thinking a swordsman, spearman, and bowman would round out the army nicely... A side note I don't think there's anyway the ears will show up on the final unit, the head will only be a few pixels across.

Looks great! I'd love to have an elven army! And I can always do color conversions if I want to make a dark/wood/gray elf army instead. Any ETA for them? A few weeks, I assume.
