Unit upgrading

Hi ppl, I probably missed something in the manual about this but is there a way to upgrade all your units at once? I sometimes have quite a few to do and dont really fancy going to all the units individually to upgrade them all. I know you can select them all in an individual city and upgrade them there but still takes too long to go city by city (I'm a tad impatient maybe ). I was fairly sure I managed to do it my first couple of games but if I did and it didnt just seem like I did then I must have fluked the key combo.

Alt + click let's you upgrade all units of that kind at once. And "all of that kind" is to be taken literally. If you Alt+Upgrade on a rifleman to upgrade it to infantry the game will also upgrade your longbowmen and archers because they belong to the same line.
I dunno if this is a bug or a feature but it sure can be expensive so beware

Do you know if there's any way to get the cost of upgrading an entire group of units before doing it? It shows you the upgrade cost for an individual unit, but seems to leave you guessing as to the cost of doing an ALT+upgrade.

Save, write down the # of gold you have after you do it, then load your saved game and think about it for a minute.

Hold down ALT while the cursor is not on the upgrade button and then move your mose over it while still holding down ALT.
Pretty straight forward actually
