Units for MansWork

When you already making prototypes can you make this one? I think that is interesting design, but it never enter serial production. Its looks like hybrid between Tiger I and T-34.

Technically not a Tiger prototype, but meant to replace the Panzer IV.

Not exactly, more like arty :) I build prototypes only if there are no real alternative (or no ways to get it) to complete my unit line.

No ideas how could be used this one, and i find such design quite strange, in compare with Tiger I especially, but it wouldn't be hard to make.

Yes the design is strange. I guess that German engineers were trying to make tank similar to T-34 which they encounter in operation barbarossa. I don't know why this one was not built but I believe that it would be better then standard Tiger I. This thing would be fast as T-34 and have strong cannon like Tiger I. Deadly combination in contrast to Tiger I which was slow and have poor mobility on rough terrain. On the other hand T-34 was fast on any terrain and with this cannon would make him indestructible.
German 88 mm cannon which was on Tiger I was far deadly then Soviet 85 mm cannon on later T-34. That tank if were built would be first true MBT.
 
The Porsche Tiger (Pz. VI) version is easily explained:
In summer of 1941 Wehrmacht high command (OKW) was frantic about replacing the Pz.IV since it lacked the oomph against the newly encoutnered T-34. Previous plans to up-gun existing Pz.IVs were thwarted by the supply of Tungsten having got cut (i.e. Germany switched alliances from China to Japan). So the OKW purchased 60 Tigers from Henschel and 90 from Porsche without either having had left the blueprint stage. If the Henschel model would be reknown for being prone to breaking down, it'd soon turn out that the Porsche version, despite being clearly favoured by Hitler, was even less in the shape of getting deployable. Albert Speer then axed the Porsche deal to shift focus on the more front-worthy vehicle. All produced Porsche Tigers plus 1 prototype were converted to the heavy tank destroyer "Ferdinand"/"Elefant" (Sd.Kfz. 184). Hence only 91 were ever produced.

Porsche (H) had slightly thicker side armor and was later treated with an additional 20 mm of frontal protection as well as a larger calibre main gun. Would be hard to balance these in the game editor. All in all Tiger (P) was less reliable and manouverable, even if one'd consider a better protected and up-gunned release version. It could serve as some sort of tank destroyer, bridging between Jagdpanther and Ferdinand/Elefant.

Everytime you (or Delta_strife, Wyrmshadow, Tom and some other unit-makers) create new unit or set, I add them to my scenario and.... yes, and should start it again and again! :lol:
This your last arty - I seen it on discovery channel! Amazing one!
There are some disputes between many experts whom say that arty is dead in XXI century, but why then it used en masse all around world and even produce in USA such as this one?

Indeed, gwendoline's trucks are excellent, but I count some 40 trucks, half tracks, and similar vehicles in the d/l db to use in the interim!

Hey Gwendoline, since you're making modern vehicle units -

I've been trying for years to get someone to make a limousine, and a NY taxi. I know that you're specializing in military stuff, but if you should ever feel like a change of pace...

This is not an OT request, because a limo could (or should) be used as a leader unit in any modern scenario, I'd think, even a modern military scenario.

Good idea about modern leader! And it could be done by any creator indeed. As for me, i can take a look on it when I'll get tired of military stuff.
