Units not getting any xp from combat, and it seems no GG ever spawns. Version 3.0.4. Could be one of the mods I am using, where to look?

I am having a strange issue, units do not get any xp from combat, and no great generals ever spawn. I am using the same mods I always use with VP, the only thing that I think changed is the VP version, 3.0.4

Anyone else experiencing the same problem? How would I go about finding out what mod is causing the problem? I can check the sql and xml and the sqlite tables in the cache folder, but I have no idea where and what to look for.

Any ideas?

Did you play on Marathon? Because there is also another guy who reported on Discord that he didn't get XP from combat with other civs, but barbarians, so it's like the opposite thing.

Has your fighting been limited to barbarians?

Yes, I am playing on Marathon. In my current game I disabled Barbarians because of the new spawn logic, but in previous games with the same mod set I was not getting xp from barbarians either

Maybe, but I would like to try to narrow down whats going on. Maybe I should try a game with just VP mods and nothing else and go from there. Was trying to check if any others had the same problem or any hints on what to look for. So far it seems Marathon may be one issue
 
I think this has already been reported. But I also experienced this in 3.0.3. My siege units was getting zero xp no matter who or what they attacked -- cities, units, barbs, rivals. Normal units kept getting xp. This was on Marathon/deity. So it's has clearly survived for a minor update patch/fix into the next version. Civilian units captured by barbs are still also destroyed when you "rescue" them. Weird that it only happens on Marathon tho since that appears to be the common factor.
 
I hadn't really took notice of this thread, as been killing barbs throughout my game, & gaining experience up to the allowed level. I have just fought my first war in Rennaisance against Aztecs & Spain, & have notice the same thing, not gaining any experience when fighting them. This is also on Marathon with a hugh map. Never noticed this before, but would have noticed it earlier if fighting any civs.
 
me too, with only Marathon speed Units not getting any xp from combat,, only scout get XP from map reveal
 
It's weird. My xp gain is a bit mixed on mara/deity. Pathfinders/scouts get xp from scouting. Siege units doesn't get xp from anything. Normal melee and ranged units gets from barbarians until the cap. I think they sometimes gets xp from rivals to but not all the time, but I have not really looked into it much. I also get xp from conquest quest.

They basically get XP up to the limits against eveything except the other playable civs, where you don't get anything. Don't realise for a long time.

Except for my siege engines that never get anything. It's a bit odd.

It's not like I'm using them to hunt barbs with but if they are in range then I might take a shot.
