There are a few units that I think would be a great addition to this amazing game. Personally I don't know how hard it would be to create them from scratch, in any case I would like to see them created by people or included in Civ 4 expansion.

Medieval infantry - Not quite sure if this has the same characteristics as the Helberdier unit in Civ 4. If not it is a great addition.

Guerilla - This unit was created for Civ 3 Play the World expansion. Great attacking unit, very usefull if you didn't have gunpowder.

Radar Artillery - Whatever happened to this unit. Bring it back.

Caravel - You need something in between Galleys and Frigates.

Cruiser - You need something in between destroyers and battleships.

AEGIS Cruiser - Today's modern navy powers of the world use this ship to attack and defend. We need it in Civ 4.

Jet Bomber - We have a jet fighter why not a jet bomber too.

Stealth Fighter - We have a stealth bomber why not a stealth fighter too.

Cruise Missle - My favorite Civ 2 unit. Inexpensive and very affective against any kind of unit ground or naval.

Tactical Nuke- Simply one kind of a nuclear weapon is not enough.

Nuclear Submarine - Who is going to carry those tactical nukes near enemy cities.

And my final addition to this list would be the Modern Infanty. Best looking unit ever created for Civ 3 by fan (sorry don't remember the name).

As you see the list is pretty big with 12 units total. I don't know why but one of the things I don't like about Civ 4 is the lack of units. And don't tell me too many units is to much to handle, unit promotions replace units etc. These units in my wish list have been included in the previous versions.

I would like to see the T-34 as the Russian special unit and the Privateer.

I agree with Erocco's requests.
I also want some kind of artillery unit that is really strong or has a lot of range, but it can only stay in cities.

I would like to see a Abrams Main Battle Tank and an F117

I would like to see Anti-Tank units, flamethrowers, more civ-pecific tanks, etc...
I like WW2 combat in CIV-style you know :)

Most of the units I would like to see in Civ 4 are actually user created units posted on this site (Civ III forums). A few immediately spring to mind:

The Parachutiste - Unit created by Balou (?) used as the special forces for any civ that does not have the SEALS

Seperatist Unit - Any variety of uses here

EuroChopper - Much nicer looking than the US chopper shown in the unit preview on the CIV4 site. Maybe it can be used by everyone else or for the European civs

Humvee - That's also a sweet unit. I am a bigger fan of the lighter armed rapid deployment concepts than I am of the traditional deployment of heavy tanks ...etc.

I like modern infantry, a good unit because in the later stages of the game your forces will be made of tanks, gunships, planes, navy, and WORLD WAR II-era infantry. It just doesn't work.

How about a Bomb Zeplin
I just love zeppelins and would love to see them in Civ, though historically their era as military units was too short to fit the scope of the game. Anyways, here's how I envision them in Civ terms (mostly comparing them to bombers): They appear at slightly earler tech than fighters, require aluminum as well as oil to build. They are more expensive to build and is much more vulnerable to enemy fighters than a bomber, but have better range. Additionally, they might also be able to carry a ground unit from city to city, but not airdrop like Civ 3 helicopter.

I would like to see the following unit and changes to the game:

1. Long Distance city bombardment - you should, with certain artillery units, that are made for city seiging to be able to attack from up to 3 squares away from a city. Once a bombardment capable unit decides to take position to bombard, it should take two turns to move it away. This keeps it from being too easy to just move around hidden and attacking.

The unit could move & set for attack in one turn. Attack on a second turn. Ready for re-deployment on the third turn, and move away on the fourth.

2. With the above my new unit would be the Trebuchet. This was an upgrade to the traditional Catapult and there needs to be a seige unit upgrade between the Catapult & the Cannon.

I would make the Trebuchet attack at a slightly better rate than the Catapult and defend at the same, movement of 1, but the ability to bombard from a distance of 2 spaces. This would be my bombardment capability.

Catapult - bombardment 1 (next to a city or other unit)
Trebuchet - bombardment 2 (two squares away)
Cannon - bombardment 2
Artillery - bombardment 3

Anyway that's what I've always wanted to do within game. Of course Bombardment would also translate to naval seiges too but without the movement penalty.

I'd like to see the Tiger or King Tiger tanks, T-34 a the Soviet..I mean Russian..sepcial unit, and other WWII stuff...gota love WWII combat

AEGIS Cruisers and AEGIS Destroyers.
More infantry types.
More unique units to add more flair.
Unmarked units, like the Privateer concept from Civ III but actually worth something. Gerillas would fit this nicely methinks.

Hi,

I would like to see an armored vehicle to transport units faster (like marines or paratroopers) over land. There are many ways by air or by sea to transport units very fast but not over land except railroads. At war you do not have acces to your enemy railroad system so a vehicle would be welcome to act fast in a war.

I like this idea a LOT. It is very annoying in modern war to be in enemy territory and be knocking on the doorstep with your mobile tanks and the like but having to wait for the slower infantry to follow up. With the reputed need for more various units in Civ IV, I feel this will be an even greater problem. Giving a leader the opportunity to build some mobile transport units to make infantry more mobile would be great.

Great ideas so far guys. I hope the creators will use some.

PS. I forgot to mention the Paratrooper unit in my list, and also an air transport unit. Used them both a lot in Civ 3. So my list jumps to 14 units.
